General Contractor for the construction of Frunzensky bridge crossing — JSC STG, and OOO Mosty i Tonneli have contributed to recruitment of sterlets as part of project execution. Over 53 000 young sturgeons, some of which are listed in the Red Book, were released into the Volga basin.

Environmental protection measures were controlled by representatives of Middle Volga Territorial Administration of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery. Young fish were bred in the Holy Mother of God of Kazan Monastery located on the side of the Volga River. Eggs to raise baby fish are brought from Astrakhan. Young fish is kept in special basins with constant water circulation maintained at optimum temperature.
