The Nizhny Novgorod Stadium constructed by JSC STG held all the six FIFA-2018 games, as it had been planned. During the last three weeks the arena became the fight scene between the teams of South Korea and Sweden, Croatia and Argentina, Panama and England, Switzerland and Costa-Rica. In the Championship 1/8 the Croatians returned to Nizhny Novgorod to win from Denmark. The series of football duels was completed by the one between the “Gallish Cocks” and the “Sky Blue”.

“The France-Uruguay game became a bright spot in the FIFA-2018 big football history in Nizhny Novgorod!.. The Football Championship matches in Nizhny Novgorod were played at the totally high level. The region was visited by representatives of over 80 countries”, - such summary of the Championship games held at the city was made by Acting Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region Gleb Nikitin.

Nizhny Novgorod took the forth place for the FIFA-2018 spectators after Moscow, St-Petersburg and Sochi. All the six matches played at the arena were watched by more than 256 thousand people.

British newspaper The Independent has included Nizhny Novgorod into the five best cities hosting the World Football Cup: “In terms of scenery, Nizhny Novgorod Stadium is probably the best located in Russia. A brand new arena, holding 45,000 people, has been built at the confluence of the Volga and Oka rivers. It is near the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, and overlooking the Kremlin, situated on the other side of the Oka. It even has an elevated walkway winding right around it”, - the article reads.

By the Championship results the stadium received the highest appreciations. And, the best player of Uruguay-France match - the French team forward Antoine Griezmann - denoted: “...the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium field was better than those we played before; this is a great stadium for 1/4 final.

The England team Senior Coach Gareth Southgate shared his impressions concerning two stadiums built by STG: “Both Volgograd and Nizhny Novgorod were really nice: stadiums, infrastructure and hi-class conditions. The arenas are absolutely gorgeous! It’s very pleasant o know that Russian cares much about us”, - Southgate emphasised.

After the FIFA-2018 is over the stadium will become a home arena for local football team “Nizhny Novgorod”.
