A non-destructive testing laboratory is now operated at STG

In the structure of the testing laboratory of JSC Stroytransgaz, a non-destructive testing laboratory (NDTL) has started its operations. The main line of its work is quality control of metal structures welded joints. The new division has passed the necessary certification and meets all the requirements and standards set forth by Russian laws.

The laboratory is fitted with modern equipment that not only allows to perform quality control of welding operations by visual and measuring or ultrasonic testing methods, but also to carry out, for instance, inspection of the used metal structures including determination of the steel grade by measuring the mass fraction of chemical elements in the metal itself.

“Setting up the laboratory of non-destructive testing makes it possible to gain independence from external parties that carry out non-destructive control,” said Elena Bushneva, head of the testing laboratory. “It also provides an opportunity to render such services to contractors and formalise statements for the regulatory authorities.”
