Frunzensky Bridge connected two banks of Samara River

JSC STG finished assembling of end segments of Frunzensky Bridge superstructure over the Samara River, which is a part of Frunzensky bridge crossing facilities. Thus, the fully assembled 667 meter long superstructure connected the both banks of the left affluent of the Volga. The construction will be completed when specialists perform welding of all joints and install bolted-type connections. The weight of assembled metal structures of the entire superstructure is only 9,208 tons. The bridge deck will be installed in 2019. 

The assembly and welding of the superstructure including its main span and  above ground sections installed by launching  and by means of cranes, correspondingly, is being done under continuous control of specialists from the non-destructive testing laboratory of STG ANO. Steel structures pass a number of examination proceedings starting from the receiving inspection at the manufacturer and metal chemical composition control to ultrasonic diagnostics of joints welded during launching. The results of carried out complex measures confirm high quality of materials and completed works.   

In parallel, works on other facilities of the bridge crossing are ongoing – at transport junctions in Frunze street, Shosseynaya street and on the main motorway. The works are carried out in accordance with the schedule approved.

Project Info

The construction project includes erection of the six-lane composite-girder bridge across the Samara River (667 m long with a 22 m wide carriageway), reinforced concrete bridge over the boggy Bannoye Lake (79.6 m long), construction of the transport junction and overpass over the main motorway on Shosseynaya Street (70.7 m long), construction of the transport junction and five retaining walls made of cast in-situ reinforced concrete on Frunze Street, and construction of the main motorway. The new motorway will be 2.67 km long. The bridge crossing will connect Samara and Kuybyshev Regions, and it will ensure the flow of traffic in the direction of federal highways M-32 and M-5.

So far, a bridge has been built across Bannoe Lake, all 8 bridge pillars have been erected across the Samara River, an overpass have been erected at the C-3 exit over the main motorway of the transport junction in Shosseynaya Street. The construction of the bridge superstructure across the Samara River is about to be completed and other facilities of the bridge crossing are being constructed on the both banks of the river.
