Casting of Frunzensky Bridge Deck Slab Started

Stroytransgaz (STG) has started to install reinforcement and to concrete the deck slab of the bridge over the Samara river, which is part of the system of facilities of the Frunzensky bridge crossing. By the end of 2018, STG will have concreted the section between piers 7 and 8. For this, over 200 cu.m of concrete will be used.

To produce a high quality slab, special auxiliary shrouds are used. These enclose the space above a reinforced concrete structure, providing the required degree of thermal insulation from the ambient conditions. This procedure allows creating suitable conditions for concrete curing to the required strength.

Sections between piers 1 and 7 are planned to be concreted in the next year. Once the concreting process is complete, the deck will be waterproofed and paved with asphalt and concrete.

Back in October 2018, the end span sections of the bridge over the Samara river were completed. Thus, the completely assembled 667-meter span linked the two banks of the left tributary of the Volga River. All the assembled steel structures of the whole span weigh 9,208 tons.

In parallel, other facilities of the bridge crossing are continuing to be built, such as interchanges in Frunze street, Shosseynaya street and on the main motorway. Embankments are being filled at interchange ramps, utilities and services are being installed, and ramp slopes are being strengthened with RC plates. There are over 300 people working at the facility in two shifts, and over 60 units of equipment.

Project Info

The construction project includes erection of the six-lane composite-girder bridge across the Samara River (667 m long with a 22 m wide carriageway), reinforced concrete bridge over the boggy Bannoye Lake (79.6 m long), construction of the transport junction and overpass over the main motorway on Shosseynaya Street (70.7 m long), construction of the transport junction and five retaining walls made of cast in-situ reinforced concrete on Frunze Street, and construction of the main motorway. The new motorway will be 2.67 km long. The bridge crossing will connect Samara and Kuybyshev Regions, and it will ensure the flow of traffic in the direction of federal highways M-32 and M-5.

So far, the bridge over the Bannoye Lake has been built, all the 8 piers have and the span the Samara River have been installed, the overpass at the C-3 exit over the main motorway of the Shosseynaya interchange has been erected. Nearing completion is the bridge span over the Samara River, other facilities of the bridge crossing are being built on both banks of the river. The activities are on schedule, as approved.
