Works on reconstruction of Central Embankment in Volgograd performed by STG JSC are in full swing. Andrey Bocharov, Governor of Volgograd Region, visited the construction site with an inspection visit and witnessed it first-hand.

STG JSC started execution of the project in Q3 2018. To date, the builders have already completed dismantling of retaining walls and a two-level open jetty in a 620 m long section. The specialists have started reinforcing and concreting of new retaining walls of the lower tier – they will be made of monolithic reinforced concrete and will be 40 cm higher than the previous ones. To ensure high quality of works in winter, the builders use a number of techniques, including concrete heating, construction
of special shelters as well as using special additives for concrete. These techniques enable creation of right conditions for gain the required strength of concrete.
“The task we set is to construct a modern embankment similar to the one constructed behind the bridge near the stadium. The entire embankment will be completed in 2020. This will be a modern and beautiful facility that meets the highest standards and which could become a decoration of any city in the world”, said Andrey Bocharov, Governor of Volgograd region, about the plans on project execution.

Project information:

A large-scale project for renovation of the lower terrace of the city embankment will be carried out for several years. In the course of works, the jetty with an upper overpass and access road will be reconstructed, the existing coast-protecting structures with stair flights will be restored and new ones will be built, the surface of jetty walls will also be restored.

STG will build an open 2,300-seat amphitheatre on the embankment, to which a pedestrian crossing across the roadway will lead. The project provides for reconstruction of the existing fountain and construction of four new fountains, as well as construction of utilities.

A 16.5 hectares park area will be located along the embankment, where more than 10,000 ornamental trees and bushes will be planted. The project provides for recreation areas – a cycle lane and a skating area with special coating, a pavement network with a total length of 18 km. The lower terrace will feature a new lighting, video surveillance and sound warning system, as well as a parking lot for over 300 cars.
