Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Memorial Museum - Works are at Full Speed

The project is implemented as part of the Moscow Oblast state programme called Construction of Social Infrastructure. The project owner is the Moscow Oblast Ministry of the Construction Complex.

The RF President decree declares year 2020 to be the year of memory and glory commemorating the 75th anniversary of Victory Day of the Great Patriotic War. The constructed facility is socially important for the country and aims to preserve historic memory for the future generations, that is why construction of the Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Memorial Museum in the Petrishchevo village of Ruza Urban District is under control of the authorities and the Main Directorate for Construction Supervision.

The building design envisages several exhibition halls, a classroom, and the museum’s interactive and technical exhibits will allow its visitors make a tour on their own, feeling like immediate participants of the events. The facility’s total area will make 2148 sq.m. This museum is a pilot project, and if it gets approval of the government, such complexes will be built all over the country!

The main idea of the project is to guide the visitors along the exhibition space according to the events chronology: from peacetime to after-war period. The tour route will be convenient for visitors of all categories, including mobility impaired people.

On September 13th, a conference commemorating 96th birthday of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was held, with participation of the director of Russia’s Ministry of Culture Museums Department, Vladislav Kononov.

The renovated exhibition of the Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Memorial Museum will be opened in 2020 in the new building situated near the house of Vassiliy and Praskovya Kulik where Zoya spent her last night before her execution. “The existing museum has been functioning from 1956 here,” - said Mr. Kononov. Schoolchildren participated in the commemoration event and paid homage by laying flowers. The memory of Zoya’s heroic deed lives in our hearts. Future generations must know about deeds of the Great Patriotic War heroes.

The new museum will change its status - being municipal, and has now acquired regional importance. Upon instruction of the Moscow Oblast governor Andrey Vorobyov and with participation of the RF Ministry of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, it has become a branch of the museum New Jerusalem.
