The construction of the pedestrian crossing on Volgograd city embankment has started

“Stroytransgaz” JSC proceeded to construction of the pedestrian crossing over the ground level longitudinal highway within the Volgograd embankment reconstruction project.

The area for installation of the structure supports is now being prepared by the specialists. The workers have to drill soil to the depth of up to 20 meters using special machines for installation of twelve reinforced concrete pillars. The 80 meters long and 18 meters wide crossing will help pedestrians to cross the lateral road quickly and safely. The structure which creates the common viewing space with the top tier of the amphitheatre will also allow for viewers to see the actions on its stage comfortably. The concrete foundation of the future amphitheatre has been already constructed and the workers will start erection of the vertical building walls at the next stage.  

The local residents can already see the outlines of two future fountains. The workers have completed laying of the concrete foundations for the structures and proceeded to reinforcement of frames at the round 10 meter diameter fountain with decorative LED illumination. The works on a group of seven multi-tiered pools creating a single water cascade are being carried out in parallel. Totally 4 fountains designed based on individual design concepts will be constructed within the works carried out on the embankment.

Project background

“STG” JSC started implementation of the project in the 3rd quarter 2018. The large-scale project of Volgograd embankment reconstruction is designed for several years - the works will be completed in 2021.

The main element of the renovated space from the river port to “BK-13” monument will be the terrace along the embankment (the total length of all footpaths will be 18 km) and the central structure will be the amphitheatre with the bridge-type pedestrian crossing over the lateral road driveway. The total parkland area will exceed than 16 ha. More than one km long bike lane and a skate ground with a special coating will be arranged for the active way of life enthusiasts. “STG” has previously restored the destroyed bank protection structures and constructed new ones at two embankment tiers with the total length of above 1200 m within the project.
