Stroytransgaz Is Among Top-100 Companies in Terms of Sustainable Development

Along with the largest corporations, Stroytransgaz was included in the list of Top-100 companies in terms of sustainable development level, based on the results of the analytical study “Sustainable Development of Territories and Social Responsibility of Business”.

In the course of the research conducted by “Expert”, business analytical publication, the cases of large and medium-sized Russian companies that implement sustainable development policies* in such areas as social policy, urban development, environmental policy, impact on small business development were analysed. The scale of investment and policy efficiency for specific regions were assessed as well. “Expert” brought together all the variety of social, charitable and environmental programs of the companies and made the first ranking** of sustainable development.

The ranking of sustainable development has shown that Russian companies are increasingly focused on social and environmental issues. This process started long before the May Decrees of the President appeared. Being focused on social and environmental issues is a matter of long-term strategy for business.

The main conclusion of the ranking is that only four companies in the country are “excellent” in achieving sustainable development goals. Three of them are state corporations; social basis of the business for them in many respects is an inheritance. They inherited this infrastructure from Soviet times and have been developing it as far as they can. Although the fact that Rosneft, composed of private assets, has a higher valuation than Russian Railways and Rosatom, is a serious achievement. Despite the extremely turbulent past assets that are now part of Rosneft, the competence and the social and environmental systems have not been lost, furthermore, they have been multiplied.

Each company has its own “sustainable development” program and understanding of the importance of this process. However, it should be kept in mind that the initial base is different for every company. One case is Rosneft and Gazprom, which are companies with eight trillion revenues and a huge infrastructure inherited from Soviet times. For them, the program for tens of billions of roubles is an allowable amount, and capital construction, support of universities, and large-scale sponsorship are affordable. Another case is a small medium-sized business, for which a million roubles is a substantial amount. All companies are united by one thing – global world tasks in the field of social and environmental responsibility are not indifferent for them and the list of 100 companies in the ranking will contribute to the harmonious development of our country.
