The junction, which will be built in accordance with the instructions of the President, Vladimir Putin, will connect Old and New Khimki, produce “good transport effect” for Khimki itself, unloading the existing road link between the districts. At present, Old and New Khimki are separated by Leningradskoye Highway and by the railway. The only traffic artery, connecting these residential areas, suffers from congestions during peak hours. The only way to get to the new part of the town from the old one is via Yubileyny avenue.

After construction of the transport junction traffic will be possible in all directions, which will allow to unload the junction at the intersection of Leningradskoye Highway and Yubileyny avenue. The inconvenience to residents during construction of the junction is minimized by introduction of a temporary traffic pattern. It will also ensure transport accessibility of the industrial part of the town, which will result in a possible increase in the number of jobs up to 28 thousand, and in turn in the increase of the population of Khimki.
