Kemerovo: the first 1000 m³ of concrete placed in the museum and theatre-educational complex

Future Educational Complex in Lenin District, Kemerovo

The Russian Federation President set a special task: to make our great culture open for the Russian people. To accomplish Vladimir Putin’s mission, museums and theatre-educational complexes will be established in several towns in Russia. One of such towns in Kemerovo, an industrial centre of Siberia. The citizens of the mining capital will face major cultural challenges. In Kemerovo, Art Quarter will appear, that will make the region a cultural centre of Siberia. The museum and theatre-educational complex will be located on two areas. The hub is Opera and Ballet Theatre of approximately 27000 sqm that will take the region branch of Mariinsky Theatre. Kuzbass Art Centre of around 5000 sqm will be built in the downtown; it will accommodate a concert hall and cinema halls, and Museum of over 4000 sqm that will take the branch of the State Russian Museum. Lenin District in Kemerovo will embrace Educational Complex with Academic Choreography Building with a residential board for 150 students and educational theatre, a comprehensive school for 300 schoolchildren, a residential board for Special School of Music for 75 students, High School of Music and Theatre Art, a museum depository, a residential board for students of High School of Music and Theatre Art, and residential occupancies for teachers of Moscow State Choreography Academy branch and High School of Music and Theatre Art, artists of Opera and Ballet Theatre and Museum attendants. Total build-up area is over 100000 sqm.

Future Educational Complex in Lenin District, Kemerovo

The cultural hub construction stages are supervised by Fund of Social and Cultural Projects “National Cultural Heritage”.

To facilitate the construction, STG-Siberia (StroyTransGaz affiliate) was established. The construction started in September, 2019.

Pit Excavation for Educational Complex

STG-Siberia started construction with excavation of pits with over 3500 piles foundation for the comprehensive school, Academic Choreography Buildings, Music School, and the residential board for Music School students.

Today, construction and erection works are in progress with attracted equipment and own spread used for construction of the pile field for the Complex buildings. The pile field is sized to take operational loads, taking into account the number of floors, vertical load, snow load in winter and other factors. Kemerovo Region is known for its freezing temperatures: in January, 2020 daytime air temperature was -25 °C, yet the construction was never suspended.

By today, the first 1000 cum concrete was placed in the foundation of Educational Complex.

Piling in the Place of Future Comprehensive School for 300 Schoolchildren

The construction involved over 30 machines and vehicles and over 180 people among them construction workers, machine operators, engineers and technicians.

The first stage of the hub construction that includes the residential occupancy for teachers of Moscow State Choreography Academy branch, residential board for students of High School of Music and Theatre Art will be completed in 2021 by the 300th anniversary of Kuzbass commercial exploitation. The project will be completed in 2023.
