Large-scale reconstruction of the lower deck of the embankment in Volgograd performed by JSC STG is scheduled for several years – according to the project the works shall be finished in 2021.Upon completion of the project, the total parkland area will exceed 16 ha. But significant changes can be easily noticed already now especially at height. Please see below the photoreport on the recent transformations of the embankment.

Today the reconstruction of the embankment is at its active phase except for the areas which are temporarily waterlogged due to the flooding.

The construction of one of the main facilities of the embankment – open amphitheatre for 2300 seats is in progress. In-situ concreting for the facility has been almost half finished. Outer walls of the facility substructure are fully concreted and the inner frame is formed for this part which is currently being sand filled to ensure the building sustainability. About 13,000 cubic meters of sand will be used for this purpose. The utilities are concurrently laid at the baseline of the amphitheatre.

The construction of the cast-in-situ basins for the future four fountains of different shape has been finished. Now the workers are laying the utility lines to the round fountain.

Parkland area is created nearby the new belt road. The main element of the renovated space from the river port to BK-13 monument will be the promenade along the embankment – the total length of all footpaths will be 18 km. The workers have already laid about 10,000 sq. m of paving blocks and, in total, the improvement of the entire territory has been 40% completed.

More that 10 thousand trees and shrubs suitable for Volgograd climate will sprung up in the new parkland area. The created modern irrigation system will ensure proper plants care.

Renovation works are carried out on the central stair of the embankment – new concrete base is prepared for granite slabs laying.

Improvement of the lower deck of the embankment is a continuation of the works towards creation of a uniform recreation zone extending along the Volga bank from Mamaev Kurgan to the Tsaritsa river floodplain. The project implementation falls within a long-term development strategy of Volgograd region.
