Stroytransgaz JSC completed the renovation of “Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya Museum” of military history located in the village of Petrishchevo, Ruza City District, Moscow Region. The project has been implemented within 9 months as part of the governmental program of the Moscow Region "Construction of social infrastructure facilities" from regional budget resources. The project owner is the Ministry of the Construction Complex of the Moscow Region.

By the decree of the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, the year 2020 was declared the year of memory and glory tо commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The renovation project is socially important for the country and is designed for maintaining historical memory, that is why despite the preventive measures against the coronaviral infection, the construction of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya museum complex was not suspended.

The opening of the Hero of the Soviet Union Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya museum complex “Zoya” in Petrishchevo took place on May 8, on the eve of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War in a TV format and was attended by the Governor of the Moscow Region, Andrei Vorobyov and Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Medinsky. Actors of stage and screen, Nonna Grishaeva together with Sergey Bezrukov, vividly and finely recounted the life and feat of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya.

The new snow-white building of the museum complex is made in the minimalist style and includes several halls. The hall of memory and glory of the heroes will become the central permanent exhibition of the museum. The new building of the museum is located near the house in which Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was tortured, and near the place of her execution. The total floor space of the museum complex has increased severalfold and amounted to 2148 square meters.

In the course of the works, STG JSC built engineering structures, such as a boiler house, fire tanks, sewage treatment plants, improved memorial places around the museum, symbolising the heroic feat of Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya. In the place of the first burial, a granite monument was restored while keeping its original appearance and paving slabs were replaced. The territory of the house of Kulik, where Zoya Kosmodemyanskaya was tortured, was tidied up and paving stones were locally repaired. The covering of the area around the stela in the place where Zoya was executed was completely replaced with granite. Museum complex park territory combines memorials into a single museum composition and occupies 6 hectares. Land was fully improved - it was landscaped, a fruit orchard was laid around, paths were covered with fine white marble, which was delivered from Irkutsk specially for this purpose. In addition, 52 new modern street lighting poles appeared in the village of Petrishchevo within the framework of the “Bright City” program.

The building design includes 8 exhibition halls, a classroom, and the museum’s interactive and technical exhibits will allow its visitors to make a tour on their own, feeling like direct participants of the events. The Museum’s permanent exhibition has become more modern - a chronicle of wartime events will be broadcast on large panoramic screens using interactive and multimedia technologies. The main idea of the project is to guide the visitors along the exhibition space according to the events chronology: from peacetime to post-war period. The excursion route is convenient for all categories of visitors, including people with limited mobility. Museum community has already branded the museum as the museum of the future.
