A student brigade will take part in the construction of MTEC in Kaliningrad

This summer, students from an all-Russian  youth public organization “Russian Student Brigades” will work at the construction site of the Museum, Theatrical and Educational Complexes in Kaliningrad.

A student brigade is formed out of 30 students of higher educational institutions of Kaliningrad, such as a Kaliningrad State Technical University (KGTU), a Baltic Federal University named after I. Kant (I. Kant BFU) and others.

Everything is for real at the construction site for the students - prior to the work, they underwent a series of induction trainings, met face to face with R.N. Pustovalov, a General Director of STG-Zapad LLC (a subsidiary of Stroytransgaz JSC). On a weekly basis, young professionals will participate in the “Safety assembly”, which is held to ensure a safety culture and increase personal responsibility.

The student brigade is split into four teams, each of which is assigned to specialists in charge of various types of construction works. For two months until the end of August, students will work in two areas: young men will master worker jobs at the construction site of a comprehensive school with a swimming pool, while girls are to work with design documentation in the production and technical department. Each member of the student brigade is officially employed in accordance with the labour code to work 8 hours a day 5 days a week with two days off. For their work, students will receive a monthly reward consisting of a salary and an incentive payment.

Students are provided with all necessary personal protective equipment: special clothing, footwear, safety helmets, high-visibility vests, etc. STG also organized  for students 3-time meals in the dining room on the territory of the facility, a dormitory accommodation near the construction site and a transfer to and from the site.

For many years Stroytransgaz JSC has been making a practice of involvement of the students` construction brigades for the construction of various facilities. Having a 30-year experience in construction and having implemented  over 200 projects in 19 countries of the world over this time, in pursuance of its mission “Building the Future”,  Stroytransgaz pays a great attention to transfer of the accumulated experience to the younger generation and popularization of an honorary trade of a builder.

Project background:

The task to create a new cultural centre was set by the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in his Address to the Federal Assembly in 2018 and spelled out in detail in the Executive Order “On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of the Russian Federation for the period until 2024”. Starting from September 2019 Stroytransgaz JSC became a new General Contractor for the construction of the facilities. The project owner is the Social and Cultural Projects Fund "National Cultural Heritage".

Creation of cultural, educational and museum complexes is one of the priority areas of the national “Culture” project implemented by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The project will allow the region to unlock its cultural and educational potential, arrange modern cultural space, change life quality of the residents through art introduction and, at the same time, make the city particularly attractive for visitors and tourists. Construction of the complexes will become one of the largest cultural projects of the recent years.

Construction is carried out on the Western and Eastern sites of Oktyabrsky Island in Kaliningrad. An opera and ballet theatre for 950 seats, the Higher School of Music and Theatre Arts, and a museum complex will be built on the Western site.
