Stroytransgaz started Renovation of the Bolshoye Savino Airport

Construction and installation works under the last renovation stage are ongoing In Perm Bolshoye Savino Airport.  While implementing current projects, JSC Stroytransgaz continues to increase construction resources.  In accordance with the design, the taxiway and parking apron with a total area of more than 16,000 sq. m are under reconstruction. Complex design solutions require high engineering responsibility, continuous laboratory analysis, accurate verification of calculations to ensure the quality of work and flight safety.

At the moment, the work has entered an active phase, a batch plant is operating directly on the territory of the airport and 2 batch plants are involved in the city, local specialists with significant experience in arranging airport infrastructure and suppliers of construction resources have been mobilized. Large-sized American-made vehicles arrived at the site. Special equipment of the new generation is used to cover roads, airfield runways and concrete floors of non-residential buildings, where continuous pouring of concrete mixtures is required.  The Gomaco-2600 concrete paver delivers the industry's largest single pass paving thickness of 61 cm. Projects requiring this thickness are successfully completed worldwide. The large thickness allows to avoid reinforcement, and in Russia this technology has been successfully implemented at large construction projects. The crushed stone layer is compacted, then the base concrete is poured and then the grade concrete is laid. Natural resources of Perm Region are used to prepare the concrete mixture.

Bolshoe Savino Airport operates in a limited mode - in the "windows" provided by the Federal Air Transport Agency, when the planes are not flying, vehicles can move. At the same time, the most difficult work of this stage is being carried out - the taxiway is being connected to the existing runway. Adviser to Director General V. Yu. Kvasov notified: "The simultaneous coordinated work of 2 asphalt pavers and a group of rollers in an extremely limited area is taking place thanks to the previously conducted training sessions on the apron area."

New lighting towers are already operating in test mode. As for the taxiways, their construction is planned to be completed in September, then they will be connected with the aircraft parking. By the end of the month, it will be possible to install modern ThyssenKrupp telescopic ladders for the comfort and convenience of passengers.

By October 2020, Stroytransgaz will complete the construction of an apron and aircraft parking and reconstruction of the taxiway. Reconstruction of utilities within the battery limits of Stroytransgaz JSC as General Contractor for the reconstruction of the Bolshoye Savino Airport is necessary to enable the transport hub receive all classes of aircrafts. In general, the project execution will solve the problem of lack of ground infrastructure and will allow the airport, which was commissioned in November 2017, to fully function, increasing the traffic capacity of Perm air harbour to 2 million people per year.
