Overview video of construction progress of the onshore and offshore infrastructure facilities in the seaport of Gelendzhik

In 2018 Stroytransgaz JSC signed a contract for construction works under the project of onshore and offshore infrastructure development in Gelendzhik. FSUE Rosmorport is the customer under the project. The facilities are being built under ‘Development of Russia’s Transport System’ governmental programme.

The project involves creation of the main facilities and performance of the work by using the federal funds: the South quay pier, dredging of the water area in the port passenger zone and the water area in the zone of the yacht marina, the port fleet and marina berths, the North quay pier, shoreline stabilisation, navigation equipment, a fire-fighting pump station with a seawater intake facility, anti-landslide retaining walls, amenities, including parking sites. There are 7 stages of construction. 97 persons, including engineers and technicians, and 44 units of equipment are currently engaged in the facility construction.

All buildings and structures under the project were dismantled, with the exception of the  Fish shop building. The Fish shop building is planned to be used as a sheltered warehouse and a bending and reinforcement assembly shop for the needs of Stroytransgaz JSC until the completion of the work on the South quay pier. Within the framework of construction, technical solutions are implemented to strengthen structures in order to avoid possible effects of engineering and geological processes during the operation. The company carried out dredging operations along the line of pier apron №1 и №2 , built berths, while conducting a diver inspection, and erected an artificial ground area.

The South quay pier construction work is currently in progress. The piles and tubular sheet piles of the pile foundation of the pier have been driven to account for 99.9% of the total scope of work. The pile foundation fastening, backfilling with inert materials, the installation of reinforcing cages, concreting of the pile cavities, fixing of the bed with stones were completed. Installation of formwork, reinforcement and concreting of platforms of the upper structure is currently underway.

The tubular sheet piles and piles are supplied to the construction site for installation of the pile foundation of the North quay pier.

The Company has commenced area planning works at the access way to the shoreline stabilization structures, dredging works have been carried out along the line of pier apron up to the design elevations of Berths No. 1,2,3, piles and tubular sheet piles are being brought in for the infrastructure development. The future seaport, capable to receive passenger ships, motor and sailing small size vessels of various classes will become the largest in Russia and part of the new "Gelendzhik Marina" tourist and recreation zone. Execution of the project for construction of onshore and offshore infrastructure facilities will play an important social and economic role in the town development, as the created comfortable environment will allow to raise the level of the town’s appeal for tourists, which, in turn, will have a favourable effect on the town economy and the people’s life quality, as well as will promote the development of the maritime transport routes of the coastal region.
