STG completed an overhaul of the Spartak swimming pool in Volgograd

Stroytransgaz JSC completed the overhaul of the Spartak swimming pool built in 1956 and delivered the facility to the project owner in summer of 2020.

Over the course of the year, STG, as a new prime contractor, implemented the approved   scope of repair work  of the Spartak swimming pool complex, set out in the work contract, which  FSUE Sport-In renewed with the company in 2019.

In the course of the work, STG JSC carried out the key task of overhaul of the sports complex -  ensured the readiness and filling of the pool basin with water, restoration of serviceability and the launch of the water treatment system. The size of the pool basin is 1050 sq. m, which makes it possible to simultaneously allocate 8 swimming lanes or make two full-fledged water-based water polo pitches.

STG revised an earlier proposed pool maintenance concept and performed a recalculation of the internal utility systems with the subsequent development of the detailed design documentation. As a result of the measures taken, the utility equipment was transferred from the premises located within pool basin to a previously unused garage accessory buildings, due to which constant access for equipment maintenance was provided and possible noise impact from operating equipment was avoided.

The repair of the diving towers was completed and comments regarding the quality of the work performed by the previous contractor were closed:  the geometric dimensions were restored, the distortions were eliminated, the steps on the flights of stairs were completely replaced.

Defects in other types of work performed by previous contractors were also eliminated, and the quality was brought in line with the regulatory documentation in force in construction.

Inside the building, locker rooms and stands were preserved, which were equipped with modern enclosure structures for a safe stay, on which 295 new spectator seats were placed, including places for people with disabilities. The previously unused room behind the pool was converted into a modern gym.

Special attention was given to creating a microclimate in the swimming pool area. Installation  and commissioning of internal utility systems were carried out , including  general ventilation (16 new  ventilation systems providing standard air exchange were installed) , heat and cold supply, heating, water supply and wastewater disposal, which  will keep temperature and humidity readings at a comfortable level.

A set of works, involving installation and testing of fire safety and security systems was completed.

Overhaul of "Spartak" swimming pool complex

For the Volgograd branch of the Federation of Diving, completion of the overhaul of the Spartak swimming pool is the most important event that will allow athletes to continue full-value training in the city’s only pool with a deep basin and diving towers of 3, 5, 7 and 10 meters.

The completion of the repairs of this facility is of social importance in terms of popularization of the Olympic sport. As a token of gratitude, the Volgograd Federation of Diving sent a letter of gratitude to the General Director of Stroytransgaz JSC, I.A. Zabiran.
