Stroytransgaz JSC will build a section of Moscow–Nizhny Novgorod–Kazan highway

Stroytransgaz JSC was assigned the Design and Construction Contractor for the first section of the under-construction Moscow–Nizhny Novgorod–Kazan Highway M-12. This 80 km road section will pass from the intersection with A-108 Moscow Big Ring Federal Highway to the intersection with Volga Federal Highway M-7. The Project Owner is Russian Highways State Company. The construction cost of this stage is 53.379 billion roubles.

This highway section is scheduled for completion by June 30, 2024. Highway M12 is a toll highway under construction that will connect Moscow with Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod. The highway section to be built at the first Project stage will pass through Moscow and Vladimir regions.

The new highway is included in the global Europe–West China government project that was initiated by China Chairman Xi Jinping and supported by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The project implies the restoration of the Silk Road that connected Europe and China for more than a thousand years. The highway will create great opportunities for Eurasian integration, become a competitive alternative to the existing sea and rail transport routes connecting Europe and China, and provide optimal conditions for cargo transportation in three main directions: China–Kazakhstan, China–Central Asia, China–Kazakhstan–Russia–Western Europe. The total length of Russian part of this international corridor will be about 2,300 km.

The Project execution implies, among others, the following results: increased use of Russian Federation transit potential and development of transport services export; increased economic efficiency of cargo and passenger transportation; stimulation of social and economic development of the regions lying in the Project attraction zone; expansion of technologies and innovations import and export in construction and operation of transport and storage infrastructure; increased foreign investments in Russian economy, etc.
