Time lapse video of the new bridge construction at Repinskaya interchange

Stroytransgaz overthrust a bridge at Repinskaya interchange and captured it with time lapse video record*. For 5 days while builders overthrust a superstructure using cables system, a GoPro camera made one shot every minute. Thus, 5 days of challenging work were put into 3-minutes video where one second of video is equal to 24 minutes of real time.

The works were complex not only from the point of view of engineering, but the safety as well. The traffic along Leningradskoe Highway did not stop during the process! Andrei Vorobyov, the Governor of the Moscow Region, posted a video in his Instagram and wrote: "What was important – not to block a traffic on Leningradka." “This is the right way to unload roads,” one user put her comment under the the Governor's post.

Moscow region residents upheld the interchange construction. The total length of the bridge over Leningradskoe Highway – 84 m, width – 22.5 m. The total weight of the construction is 1320 tons. In the near future, builders begin to install waterproofing and place all layers of the road coat. At the same time, the reconstruction of all utility systems: storm water drainage and domestic sewage, heating systems and water supply is underway, – the 360 TV channel reports.

The total length of the main road of Repinskaya interchange after the completion will be 0.8 km including an overpass with the length 158 m. The main road will include 2-5 lanes with an estimated speed of traffic 70 km/h.

A special pedestrian zone will be arranged, lights and traffic lights will be installed to let residents cross the road safely.

The construction of Repinskaya interchange began in December 2019 with the instructions of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The project is to connect Old and New Khimki. It is a part of the national program "Safe and High-Quality Roads". The construction of the Repinskaya interchange is scheduled to be completed in 4th quarter of 2021.

The Repinskaya junction will make the industrial part of Khimki more accessible and unload the intersection of Leningradskoye Highway and Yubileyny avenue.

*Time Lapse (or slow motion) is a slow-motion picture with the exact number of shots made per minute, then they are combined into one video sequence, which looks like a time lapse video.
