Reconstruction Progress of Tupoleva Street in Zhukovsky. Autumn 2020

The autumn video review provides for the reconstruction progress of the 2.7 km road section in Zhukovsky, located at the intersection of Tupoleva Street and Tupolevskoe Highway to the bridge over the river Khripan.

In July 2018, Stroytransgaz JSC signed an agreement with the Moscow Region State Public Institution “Road Construction Administration” for reconstruction of Tupoleva street in Zhukovsky, the city in the Moscow region. According to the agreement, Stroytransgaz will expand the highway from two to eight lanes, 4 in each direction, so that the new highway speed will increase to 70 km/h, and its traffic capacity will rise to 50 thousand vehicles per day.

In the course of project execution, a two-level junction and a four-lane tunnel excavation near Gromov Square with a length of 713 m are under construction. At this stage, the builders are constructing supports for the 4th and 5th pedestrian crossings. And the 1st (90% completed), 2nd (50% completed) and 3rd (75% completed) crossings will be fully ready and put into operation by the end of this year. All the over-ground crossings will be fully adapted for people with limited mobility.

Upon the completion of main works, the existing bus stops on the square will be rebuilt, the surrounding area will be landscaped and improved, in particular, conifers and shrubs will be planted.

Level of service and total traffic capacity of Tupoleva street with one traffic lane each way makes it impossible to ensure proper vehicle access for users of community, cultural, scientific and industrial facilities in Zhukovsky city and adjacent areas. Additional road load also occurs due to transit traffic from Ramenskoye town.

Reconstruction project execution will allow to synchronize Tupoleva street with previously constructed Access road to Zhukovsky (Gromov Flight Research Institute) from M5 highway “Ural”, ensure vehicle access for National Centre of Aircraft Construction and in general improve road traffic situation in Zhukovsky city in view of its future development.
