Stroytransgaz JSC commenced the Second Phase work under the state contract with the Magadan Regional State Public Institution “Directorate of Integrated Customer of the Ministry of Construction in Magadan region” for the facility “Strengthening the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk in the Nagayev Bay in the city of Magadan near the Portovoye Highway and Portovaya str.”, namely - reconstruction of the retaining wall on Portovaya Street.

Now, the roadway has been shifted as agreed with the municipal authorities. Dismantling of the pavement started on November 11, driving of welded pipe piles started on November 12.

Concreting of bank protection heads

At the same time, construction of waterworks within the 1st Contract Phase - concreting of bank protection heads (upper structure) - is near completion. This kind of work is carried out to combine the bank protection structure, distribute loads and give an integral appearance to the Waterworks. Fencing will be installed along the head, which will operate as sea protection for the lower bank protection terrace, and will save special vehicles from falling into the water area in case of emergency.

On November 23, Sergei Nosov, Governor of the Magadan Region, assessed the progress of construction activities and recalled that two months had been lost due to contractor change. In his opinion, the new contractor, JSC Stroytransgaz, has made up for lost time and will complete the required scope of work stipulated by the 2020 plan by the end of December.

And I have no doubt that the activities will be completed next year in conformity with the contract. We once again talked with the contractor's representatives, and I gave instructions to our Ministry of Construction and the Directorate of Integrated Customer to draw up and award this year a contract for the design and construction of the Second Phase of bank protection, as well as design and execution of work to restore the quay wall in the seaport area. We took part of the territory to the region and are planning to do an extended launching of boats by cars, as Magadan people like to do. This will be an additional place with good parking. Lastly, there will be also a quay wall suitable for lifting large-size yachts, ” emphasized Sergey Nosov.

The Governor also noted: “2020 is very important for us - this is the year of builders compliance inspection. 99% did not even stutter that they were prevented by a pandemic, although everyone had difficulties. We assessed resources of each campaign, and we are trying today to look for conscientious contractors for the future. In general, the workmanship of builders can be assessed as satisfactory. All the tasks that were set before the builders for drawdown of allocated funds are being fulfilled."

30 nos. personnel involved in implementation of the facility, and 12 pieces of equipment are engaged in the construction.
