Cultural and Educational Complex in Vladivostok. Year Results

We present to your attention a video review of the construction of a museum, theatrical and educational complex (MTEC) by JSC Stroytransgaz in Vladivostok for December.

The complex construction here is especially important for residents of not only Vladivostok, but also Primorye and the entire Far East, who will no longer have to cover a distance of 9,000 km to enjoy art. They will be able to do it on the spot now.

The large-scale cluster in Vladivostok will comprise two sites. An educational complex with a total building area of over 90,000 sq.m will be located on island Russky. It will integrate an educational complex combining an Educational Centre for 550 seats with a canteen and a swimming pool, a branch of the Central Music School at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Choreographic Academy, a branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.  The educational buildings and boarding schools for students will be interconnected by winterized "aerial" passages. Additionally, the site will comprise a dormitory for 150 beds, two boarding schools for students of educational institutions and three apartment buildings for teachers and artists. At the construction of all structures, engineers has considered possible seismic vibrations and resulting tsunamis, which happen from time to time in the regular, as well as frequent temperature fluctuations.

In 2020, a lot of work was done, which will allow the commissioning of all buildings on island Russky as early as next year.

Over 47,000 cubic meters of high-quality concrete were poured into the structure of the complex, over 4,800 cubic meters of bricks and gas silicate blocks were laid. Internal and external walls are being laid in 8 of 9 buildings located on island Russky.

In two facilities of the educational complex — a general education centre and choreographic academy — the percentage of completion of monolithic structures already exceeds 90%. Roofing and finishing works are in progress in the same buildings.

The total  length of the utilities within the complex on the island Russky will be over 34,000 meters. Almost 5,000 meters of utility networks have been installed by now.

Construction of retaining reinforced concrete walls designed to strengthen the slopes is in progress. The educational complex is located in a hilly area, so seven retaining walls with a total length of more than 1 km will be constructed here.

A freezing rain fell in Primorye at the end of November this year. The Kremlin called the storm consequences “colossal” and set up a federal taskforce team to eliminate them. Traffic on the bridge connecting the mainland with island Russky was suspended for 2 weeks to clear it of ice but, despite this, the main work at the site continued. Workers travelled to the construction site by ferry.

Stroytransgaz will build a large-scale museum and theatrical centre on the Orlinoye Gnezdo (Eagles Nest) bald peak of the mainland. It will house branches of the country's largest museums, including the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and a branch of one of the hallmarks of St. Petersburg – the Mariinsky Theater. Today, a pit is being developed at the site and structures are made of bored-secant piles to strengthen the slopes.

In December 2020, the visual concept of the theatrical and museum complex on the Orlinoye Gnezdo bald peak in Vladivostok was presented to the public at the regional town planning council.

“Its orderly architecture is delicately integrated in the landscape. Modern art space will allow the same premises be transformed for various exhibitions and events. Guests can visit all the three facilities not going outdoors,” said Natalia Volynskaya, President of the Fund of Social and Cultural Projects “National Cultural Heritage”.
