JSC Stroytransgaz Signs a Contract for the Arrangement of the 220 kV Kupchinskaya Substation

JSC Stroytransgaz won the tender and signed a contract for work performance at the 220 kV Kupchinskaya substation built in 2019 with 200 kV cable lines (installation of power transformers with a capacity of 2x40 MVA, approximate length of 0.5 km). The customer under the project is PJSC Rosseti Lenenergo.

The 220 kV Kupchinskaya transformer substation is designed for technological connection of new consumers to 10 kV power grids and unloading of existing power centres in the Frunzensky Administrative District of St. Petersburg, as well as for increasing the power supply reliability. The construction is necessary, among other things, for the city metro operation.

A 220 kV overhead line with a length of 955 meters will be reconstructed under the project. The 220 kV Kupchinskaya transformer substation will be connected to the existing 220 kV Yuzhnaya–Chesmenskaya II Circuit overhead cable line to form two overhead cable lines – 220 kV Kupchinskaya–Chesmenskaya and Kupchinskaya–Yuzhnaya. When arranging the Substation Entrances, a 220 kV high-voltage cable and couplings made by Prysmian are to be used. Prysmian is a leading manufacturer of power and telecommunication cables and systems.

JSC Stroytransgaz will also install and set up relay protection and automation means, an automated process control system, automated control and accounting system for energy resources and communication networks at the 220 kV Kupchinskaya substation. The automated control and accounting system for energy resources is designed based on modern software and hardware providing for the main information and control functions, data collection and processing regarding the status of controlled engineering equipment, and centralized management of such equipment.

Besides, Stroytransgaz will perform full-scale commissioning, development of start-up programs, field supervision, and adjustment of the required design documentation.

The scheduled time of the project completion is late 2021.
