Progress of the Passenger Port Construction in Gelendzhik, 2021

In 2022, a modern seaport capable of accommodating passenger vessels, motor and sailing small vessels of various classes will appear in one of the Black Sea resorts of Russia – Gelendzhik.  The largest yacht complex in Russia is being created here for accommodating of at least 200 yachts as part of yachting development in Russia. The seaport to be created will ultimately form an integral part of Gelendzhik Marina tourist and recreational area that will comprise hotels, apartment units, a yachting school, a yacht club, an aqua-thermal complex with year-round indoor and outdoor swimming pools filled with seawater.

The onshore and offshore infrastructure facilities will be constructed by Stroytransgaz. The facilities are being built under ‘Development of Russia’s Transport System’ governmental programme.

The project envisages creation of the following major facilities: south and north quay piers*, marine and port fleet berths, navigation aids, a fire-fighting pumping station with a sea water intake. In addition, the following works are envisaged: dredging in the passenger port water area and in the yacht marine water area, bank protection, installation of anti-landslide retaining walls, off-site improvements, including parking areas.

Gelendzhik is a popular resort at the Black Sea coast in Krasnodar Territory. The town takes in a quarter of the region’s total tourist flow: more than 4 million people a year. Being aware of the environmental uniqueness of the Black Sea as well as the stringent requirements for construction in the resort town area, JSC “Stroytransgaz” takes a number of environment protection measures to prevent and reduce the negative impact on the environment. Environmental control is conducted regularly, and the quality of atmospheric air and marine environment, water biological resources, and plant life is examined.

Execution of the project for construction of onshore and offshore infrastructure facilities will play an important social and economic role in the town development, as the created comfortable environment will allow to raise the level of the town’s appeal for tourists, which, in turn, will have a favourable effect on the town economy and the people’s life quality, as well as will promote the development of the maritime transport routes of the coastal region.
