Stroytransgaz Reconstructs Oktyabrsky Avenue in Lyubertsy
Roadbed base works, left side passage

In May 2019, State Public Institution “Road Construction Administration” subordinate to the Department for Transport and Road Infrastructure Development of the Moscow Region entered into a contract with JSC Stroytransgaz to reconstruct Phase 1 of Oktyabrsky Avenue in Lyubertsy from the Moscow border to Egorievskoe Highway. The reconstruction site for Phase 1 is determined from the Vlasova Street section adjoining to Oktyabrsky Avenue to the railway overpass approach along the main road of the avenue with a turn to Volkovskaya Street.

The large-scale project for Oktyabrsky Avenue reconstruction includes five phases and is implemented as part of measures for road network development and transport accessibility improvement in the Lyubertsy urban district as instructed by Andrey Vorobiev, Governor of the Moscow Region. The length of the entire avenue subject to reconstruction will be about 6.5 km along the main road and 5.9 km along connecting tracks. Nine new underground pedestrian crossings, 25 bus stops, and seven traffic lights will be appear. Upon completion of reconstruction, the throughput of the road is expected to reach 115 thousand vehicles per day.

“After Phase 1 completion, the road throughput will grew by 35%. In general, the project will be implemented in 5 phases and is expected to be completed in 2025,” said Aleksey Gerzhik, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region.

The project provides to increase the number of traffic lanes from 4 to 8. The length of the reconstructed section will comprise 1.5 km along the main road of the avenue and 2.94 km along side passageways and connecting tracks. JSC Stroytransgaz will also carry out construction of a new four-lane cross-over bridge over two busy road crossings in Krasnaya and Smirnovskaya Streets with the overall length of 473 m.

To ensure road traffic safety, two underground pedestrian walkways will be constructed as well, which will include ramps for baby carriages and invalid's wheel chairs. The project provides for installation of three traffic lights and construction of seven bus-stops. Upon completion of reconstruction, the average speed along the road will reach about 80 km/h, and the time for vehicles passage will reduce down to 15–20 minutes. The throughput capacity of the road will increase by 35%.

Among other things, in the summer of 2019, a hotline was established for residents to address issues related to the reconstruction of Oktyabrsky Avenue. Residents can ask questions about the project implementation by contacting phone number 8 (495) 332-79-99 or writing messages to careline@stroytransgaz.com. The telephone and email are available 24/7. Answers to all questions are provided as soon as possible.

Waterproofing of the cable duct chamber

Currently, as part of the water supply works, mechanized sand backfilling with compaction is underway. Backfilling is carried out after the new water supply system installation, which lies at a depth of 2–3 meters. After backfilling, the territory is to be landscaped (sowing grasses, lawns).

Work is underway to install cable ducts – a constructive element consisting of concrete chambers, either prefabricated or monolithic, to which a bundle of telephone cables in protective cases is extended through the side openings from the end. Cable ducts are developed for the purpose of placing, operating, and maintaining cables.

Besides, the cable duct chamber is being waterproofed to drain water from the concrete walls of wells and chambers; berm formwork is being installed in the rainwater drainage chamber. The rainwater drainage system is laid at a depth of 5 to 8 meters. It consists of rainwater wells connected by corrugated pipes of the Korsis type and is designed to drain water from the carriageway along the entire road.

Furthermore, the construction and compaction of the roadbed base, namely, the left side passage, is in progress. It is planned to lay networks for a traffic light at the roadbed site shortly.

Works completed under the project: 18,036 out of 31 793 linear meters, 30 cameras out of 67 telephone ducts, 1,054 out of 1,877 linear meters of rainwater ducts using microtunnel complex (AVN)*, cable lines of 0.4–10 kV., 5,483 out of 6,023 linear meters.

* Microtunnelling means automated tunnelling with pushing of the lining pipe structure, carried out without the presence of people in the mine.

About 40 people and 40 specialty vehicles are engaged at the construction site.
