Stroytransgaz Reconstructs the Lobnya–Sheremetyevo Airport Road

Local Treatment Plant No. 1, accumulation tank, surface preparation for waterproofing

In December 2019, Stroytransgaz JSC won the tender and signed the state contract for Phase 1 of the Lobnya–Sheremetyevo Airport motor road reconstruction. The road section is located in the Moscow Region in the Solnechnogorskiy District and in urban districts of Khimki and Lobnya. The Customer is State Public Institution of the Moscow Region Roadbuilding Directorate.

“The project will increase the Lobnya highway throughput, reduce the time of travel from Lobnya to the Sheremetyevo Airport and back,” said Aleksey Gerzhik, Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region.

Within the framework of Phase 1of the Project, the Lobnya – Sheremetyevo Airport motor road will be reconstructed to reach the parameters of the main road with regulated traffic (main street of municipal importance). The number of traffic lanes in the section from the intersection with the Sheremetyevo-1 – Sheremetyevo-2 motorway (Starosheremetyevo highway) to the intersection with the Krasnaya Polyana – Textilnaya motorway will be increased from 2 to 4. In addition, side passages along the main course of the Lobnya – Sheremetyevo motor road, two U-turnings, four aboveground pedestrian crossings, six bus stops, sidewalks along the side passages of the motor road with arrangement of entrance pockets and pavilions for passengers will be constructed. The total length of the reconstructed section will comprise 2.1 km along the main course and about 4 km along side passageways.

Besides, as part of Phase 1, the Project provides for construction of a 25 m long bridge over the tributary of the Meshcherikha River, installation of utilities and 6 m high noise screens.

At night, it takes only a few minutes to travel from the Lobnya exit to the Sheremetyevo airport. According to old-timers, the Lobny residents used to spend the same time to cover the same distance in the morning hours 20–30 years ago. Currently, residents travel to Sheremetyevo in the morning and back in the evening for tens of minutes.

Implementation of the Project will increase the capacity of the Lobnya highway, reduce travel time from Lobnya towards the Sheremetyevo Airport and back, improve transport accessibility of Chashnikovo and Nosovo villages, and provide access to residential areas and industrial enterprises. As a result of Phase 1, the road capacity will reach 35,743 vehicles per day. The estimated travel speed is 80 km/h on the main course.

The work is performed under the state program of the Moscow Region Development and Operation of the Traffic Complex with financing from the regional road fund.

Preparation for the installation of a bypass pipe for the construction of a bridge across the tributary of the Meshcherikha River

At the moment, work is underway to build local treatment facilities*, reconstruct 0.4–10 kV cable and overhead lines, linear communication facilities, and prepare for the construction of a bridge across the tributary of the Meshcherikha River.

Local treatment facilities are a technological complex of structures and equipment with the main function of collection and incomplete purification of storm, household, industrial wastewater to meet the standard discharge rates of the city sewage network, followed by additional treatment at the district (city) sewage treatment facilities to achieve the rates of water body release.

Local treatment plant No. 2, 12 rainwater drainage chambers, 7 telephone ducts have been completed and 816 running meters of 0.4–10 kV cable lines have been reconstructed.

About 55 people and 15 specialty vehicles are engaged at the construction site.
