Employees of STG-Vostok Celebrate the Victory Day with a Sports Festival

The sports festival of STG-Vostok was held at the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island

On May 9, the 76th anniversary of the Soviet people’s Victory in the Great Patriotic War, employees of Stroytransgaz-Vostok supported healthy lifestyle and took part in a sports festival organized by the company's leaders. During friendly competitions, the builders named the best runners, kettlebell-lifters, and chin-uppers.

The event took place at the stadium of the Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island. The festive day turned out to be rather nasty – torrential rains now and then complicated the competitions. However, the difficulties did not prevent the healthy lifestyle lovers. More than 150 employees of STG-Vostok took part in the tournament, as well as a large support group from among colleagues and relatives of the athletes.

Rainy weather did not prevent competitions

The sports festival opened with a solemn lineup and a minute of silence in memory of the heroic defenders of the Motherland who had fallen during the Great Patriotic War.

After that, teams representing different construction sites of the cultural and educational complex on Russky Island went onto the run tracks. Company employee Tsyren Tsyrenov resulted the best runner, who covered the distance of two kilometres in 6 minutes 59 seconds. The second place was taken by Aleksandr Kazinnikov with a result of 7 minutes 29 seconds, the third place – by Muras Ashimov, who covered the distance in 7 minutes 51 seconds.

The athletes competed in individual and team events

The next discipline offered to the competition participants was kettlebell lifting. It turned out to be especially popular among employees of STG-Vostok. Alongside with those officially declared to participate in this discipline, almost all the other athletes tried their hand at kettlebell lifting. As for the results, Murat Magamedov lifted a 16-kg kettlebell more than all the rest – 110 times. The second place went to Erlan Nurtayev (106 times), and the third – to Aleksandr Kazinnikov (98 times).

The competition day ended with exercises on the crossbar – the athletes found out who was the best in chin-ups. The best result was shown by Tsyren Tsyrenov, who performed the exercise 24 times.

Despite the fact that the competition program for May 9 is exhausted, the tournament will continue one of the coming weekend. Construction site teams will continue to identify the most athletic one in disciplines such as long jump, flexion-extension, and standing forward bend. According to preliminary results, Aleksandr Kazinnikov is in the lead with 145 points, Tsyren Tsyrenov is just one point behind him, Kamchybek Uulu Nursultan is in the third place with 135 points.

The tournament will continue one of the coming weekends

As a reminder, Stroytransgaz Group is building cultural and educational complexes in Vladivostok and in three other Russian cities at the request of Social and Cultural Projects Fund National Cultural Heritage as instructed by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In Vladivostok, a large-scale cultural cluster will be located on two sites.

An educational complex with a total building area of over 90,000 sq.m is under construction on Russky Island. It will integrate an educational complex combining an Educational Centre for 550 seats with a canteen and a swimming pool, a branch of the Central Music School at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory and the Choreographic Academy, a branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.  The educational buildings and boarding schools for students will be interconnected by winterized "aerial" passages.

Additionally, the site will comprise a dormitory for 150 beds, two boarding schools for students of educational institutions and three apartment buildings for teachers and artists.

STG-Vostok will build a large-scale museum and theatre centre at Aksakovskaya Street. It will house branches of the country's largest museums, including the Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, and a branch of the Mariinsky Theater.

At the construction of all structures, engineers has considered frequent temperature fluctuations, possible tsunamis, and seismic vibrations, which happen from time to time in the region.

According to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the new cultural development centre in Vladivostok will be a spiritual growth centre and one of the cultural oases of Russia.
