Admission Campaign Underway at the Kemerovo Branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography

An admission campaign is underway at the Kemerovo Branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography being built by Stroytransgaz Group as ordered by the Social and Cultural Projects Fund National Cultural Heritage.

For the 2021–2022 academic year, there are admissions ongoing for three programs:

- additional comprehensive educational program for general developmental Basics of Choreographic Art (children aged 8–10 years);

- additional comprehensive pre-professional program The Art of Ballet (children aged 7 years), learning time 4 years;

- secondary vocational education program integrated with the programs of basic general and secondary general education, specializing in The Art of Ballet (admission campaign launched for the first time in Kuzbass), learning time 7 years 10 month.

Girls and boys have been already studying for a year under the first two programs, and this year it is planned to admit 82 more students.

Inga Anatolyevna Puzyreva, Director of the Kemerovo Branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography, commented that talented children from the Kemerovo Region, Altai Territory, Omsk, Novosibirsk, and Tomsk Regions applied for admission.

Holidays, vacations, and the sun do not interfere with either the entrance exams or final classes for students.

Aleksey Viktorovich Savin, Deputy Director for Creative Work of the Branch, notes that even on the hottest summer days, there are almost no classes missed.

“Classes are held 3 times a week 3 hours each in accordance with the curriculum and the approved timetable. Many make additional exercises at home in order to master the program as successfully as possible. An individual approach to each student is especially important in ballet – the teacher must develop strengths and strengthen weaknesses. In this form of art, both physical aspects and passion are equally important. Children themselves may be unaware of their capabilities, but the teacher will come up, turn their leg correctly, show the exact movement, and the body will remember it. Besides, if the movement is done correctly, it is much easier. Parents or close relatives of many students are involved in the art of dance, these children from early childhood see enthusiasm and willingness to work, so continuous efforts are normal for them. There are girls who came over from gymnastics and other sports, they are also accustomed to work and result-oriented.”

Purposefulness, discipline, a conscious approach of children to classes are noted by all the parents.

Mothers of Ekaterina Gulevich and Darina Moskvitina are choreographers. Both graduated from the Kemerovo State Institute of Culture:

“Our girls have been introduced to music and dance since their infancy,” they note. “It is not surprising that they early wanted to engage themselves in it. If they didn't like it, there wouldn't be so good in it!”

Ksenia Poklepa has also been dancing since early childhood. When asked whether it is hard to practice, she answers:

“It should be! At first it is hard but then it is easy and beautiful!”

Olya Patsula and her mother came to Kemerovo from Barnaul specifically to get the opportunity to prepare for entering the academy:

“I saw ballet on TV and realized that I could not live without it! I will definitely dance all the most beautiful parts in the world!
