Stroytransgaz Group Delegation Participates in the 6th Eastern Economic Forum

On September 2–4, the delegation of Stroytransgaz Group, headed by Vladimir Aleksandrovich Lavlentsev, General Director of the Company, participated in the 6th Eastern Economic Forum held in Vladivostok. The Forum was attended by delegates from 57 countries. The participants of the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) signed agreements for a total amount of RUB 3.6 trillion. This was reported by Yury Trutnev, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia and Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District (FEFD), at the conference following the Forum.

The Forum has made it abundantly clear that the constant attention to the life of the Russian Far East on the part of Vladimir Putin, the President of the country, facilitates the active development of the economy of this region.

The President of Russia listed the task of creating a large cultural and educational cluster in Vladivostok as one of the important directions of the region development. Over time, the cluster is to become an attractor for the cultural life of both the Primorye Territory and the Far East in general. JSC Stroytransgaz acts as the General Contractor for construction of the cultural and educational cluster in Vladivostok.

The construction of the Cultural and Educational Complex in Vladivostok is carried out at two sites. An educational campus is being built on Russky Island, while a big museum, theatre and educational centre will be constructed on the Orlinoye Gnezdo (Eagle’s Nest) Hill; it will house branches of the country’s major museums – the State Hermitage Museum, the Tretyakov Gallery, the State Museum of Oriental Art, as well as a branch of the Mariinsky Theatre.

A scale model of the museum, theatre and educational centre on the Orlinoye Gnezdo Hill was demonstrated during the Forum. The model was designed by the Norwegian architectural firm Snøhetta. A Russian designer – GORKA Group of Companies – is responsible for adapting the design to Russian conditions and standards. The appearance of the future building is intended to catch an eye and shape the image of the city.

When developing the design, its authors proceeded from the premise that Russia holds a unique position in terms of the prospective cultural development, and arrangement of a museum, a school for performing arts, as well as an opera and ballet theatre at a dedicated and important location in Vladivostok bears testament to Russia’s constant striving for taking the global lead in terms of cultural experience in future. The decision to replace the concert hall for 950 seats with a bigger house with a capacity of 1,300 seats has become the most noticeable change from the previous design concept. The layouts provide for stage complex premises, side stages, dressing rooms, and scenery bays; the area of the stage itself has been increased.

Integration of the complex into the existing fabric of the city, as well as landscaping with the use of endemic plants and paving with the use of natural materials, constitute the main architectural idea of the project.

The works at this facility will be performed by construction workers from the People’s Republic of China. Stroytransgaz and LLC KitayStroy – Russian representative office of China’s leading construction company and one of the world’s major construction contractors China State Construction Engineering Corporation – have entered into a cooperation agreement for execution of the project for construction of a museum, theatre and educational complex in Vladivostok. The document was executed on September 3 on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum. It was signed by Vladimir Lavlentsev, General Director of JSC Stroytransgaz, and Lu Hao, General Director of LLC KitayStroy. LLC KitayStroy acts as a sub-contractor at all stages of construction of the facility located on the Orlinoye Gnezdo, until the facility commissioning at the end of 2023. The base value of the contract is estimated by the parties at RUB 20 billion.

‘The project is important for the development of international cultural and business cooperation. Engaging Chinese partners in the creation of the complex is a major asset. Our Chinese partners have a great experience in construction of buildings with the use of cutting edge technologies, and we will be glad to share best practices with them. I am sure that fruitful, mutually beneficial cooperation between JSC Stroytransgaz and LLC KitayStroy will create a synergy,’ Vladimir Lavlentsev pointed out.

KitayStroy General Director Lu Hao noted that museum, cultural and educational cluster construction in Vladivostok is the most important KitayStroy project in Russia. ‘The project has received direct support from Zhang Hanhui, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation, and the China State Construction Engineering Corporation. KitayStroy aims for long-term and fruitful cooperation with Stroytransgaz,’ Mr. Lu Hao said.

Successful execution of the project for the construction of a cultural, educational and museum complex in the capital of the Far Eastern Federal District will help fulfil the cultural and educational potential of the region and give the residents of Primorye more opportunities to connect with world-class art. The cluster under construction will become one of the main attractions of the city, along with such iconic objects of Vladivostok as the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre and the famous bridges built for the APEC Summit 2012.

Efficient and well-coordinated teamwork within EEF-21 resulted in quite a few new contacts, mutually beneficial contracts, and promising projects.
