Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government Inspects Coast Protection Areas in Nagayev Bay

During a business trip to the Magadan Region, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yuri Trutnev inspected the coast protection section and the reconstructed road in the Nagaev Bay.

Stroytransgaz JSC is working in this area. It has completed the restoration works on 242 m section of Portovoye Highway, the retaining wall along Portovoye Highway has been reconstructed (192.9 m) and 365.9 m coast protection facilities are under construction.

"Coast protection works in this section have been completed. The design is being reviewed. By the end of 2022, the site will be and look like a real embankment," said Marat Kharisov, Hydraulic Engineering Director, Stroytransgaz JSC.

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government was also informed about the promising projects implemented by Stroytransgaz in the Magadan Region to bring funding to the Region:

  • Landscaping;

  • Phase 2 coast protection (from Mayak Park to the Infectious Diseases Hospital);

  • Yacht Marina;

  • Fishery harbour.

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government was accompanied by the Governor of the Magadan Region Sergey Nosov "Initially, we did not expect to improve the coast protection site, but then a decision was made to logically connect Mayak Park and Morskoy garden square. They will be connected by a large promenade area with recreation sections. Thus, the entire area will become a single ensemble".

The Governor of the Region mentioned the future Zaryadye floating bridge, the second phase of Mayak Park, the planned construction of a social and cultural centre opposite the pier and Marina project, for which a feasibility study has already been prepared, it is planned to be completed under a concession, and a tourist area with restaurants. He spoke about the construction project of a new medical centre on the site of an infectious diseases hospital.

Portovoye highway is a key element in the arrangement of Severny Zavoz (deliveries of goods to the Northern Territories of Russia) for the Magadan Region. But the sea waves, rockslides and landslides cause coastline melting rate of two meters per year. Prior to the reconstruction, the distance from the roadway to the water's edge in some areas was no more than 10 cm.

“This project is almost completed, the contract will be terminated in October. There will remain a new contract for landscaping at the bottom and a single complex is gradually emerging. Our Far Eastern seas are very beautiful: sun, waters, rocks. Each coastal city has its own identity and Magadan also has its image, its look and its landmarks," added Sergey Nosov.
