Boarding School for Students of the Central Music School in Kemerovo Approved for Commissioning

The National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects has received a permit to commission the new Boarding School for students of the Siberian branch of the Tchaikovsky Central School of Music. The permit was issued by the Administration of Kemerovo.

The Boarding School for students of the Siberian branch of the Central Music School is one of the five buildings included in the Educational Complex of the Siberian Cultural Cluster built by Stroytransgaz Group on behalf of the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects.

The four-floor building with a total area of 3,098 m² is designed for 75 students. The Boarding School is connected with the Comprehensive and Music Schools by a heated passageway. The students will live in the modules split into two sections, two persons in one room. Four persons will have a common corridor, bathroom and cloak room.

The Scandinavian design of the rooms provides for different colour finishing for girls and boys, the windows have curtains selected by the users. All stairs are tiled with non-slip tiles and have two-level handrails. Each floor has two rooms for self-training. There are comfortable large halls for students. The corridors will be monitored by housemasters on a 24/7 basis.

The building has its medical office. It is equipped with four-section observation beds with an electric drive to adjust the angle of the back and footboard with removable head- and footboards, utility and instrument tables and other special furniture (chairs, bedside tables, wardrobes).

In accordance with general specifications, the Complex rooms have an environment accessible for low mobility citizens with ramps, lifts for wheelchairs, specially equipped residential rooms for living with an attendant, tactile indicators, warning contours in front of the entrance and warning signs on the doors for the visually impaired people.

The Educational Complex is a part of the Siberian Art Cluster. It is located in Leninsky district of Kemerovo and includes five buildings, a choreographic academy for students and a boarding school for 150 persons, music school for 150 students with a concert hall and a boarding school for 75 students; comprehensive school with a swimming pool for 300 pupils. The building complex has a total area of 33,807 m2. The facilities are built together with all required infrastructure and have an area of about 7 ha.

50 young musicians already study in the Siberian branch of the Central School of Music (in other educational institutions) and 142 dancers study at the Siberian branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography.

In addition to the Educational Complex, the Siberian Art Cluster includes the Opera and Ballet Theatre, branch of the State Academic Mariinsky Theatre; Museum and Exhibition Centre, Branch of Russian Museum; Kuzbass Art Centre, including a Cinema and Concert Complex; Siberian Campus of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts and a dormitory; School of Creative Industries; two buildings for the faculty and employees.

The project was developed by the Austrian firm Coop Himmelb(l)au and adapted for Russian conditions and standards by the Russian designer, GORKA Group. The construction of facilities in Kemerovo started in 2019.

The creation of modern cultural & educational complexes is a unique Russian educational project that will change the quality of life throughout the Russian Federation through introduction to art. The schools as part of these complexes will have all conditions required for affordable and high-quality vocational training of young talents, who will become the new cultural and creative capital of this country. The project is important for developing the international cultural collaboration and will have a special economic and social significance not only for the region, but for the country as a whole.
