Reconstruction of Tupoleva Street in Zhukovsky 60% Complete

Stroytransgaz is reconstructing Tupoleva Street in Zhukovsky, Moscow Region. To date, the facility is 60% complete. The renovation is planned to be completed by the end of 2022. The project is commissioned is the Road Construction Administration, Moscow Region. The works are carried out as part of the Safe and High-Quality Roads national project.

The reconstructed section 2.7 km in length is located between the interchange at the intersection of Tupoleva Street and Tupolevskoye Highway and the bridge across the Khripan River. The road will be widened to six lanes (three in each direction) and 5 pedestrian overpasses will also be built. A four-lane 712m long tunnel will be built under Gromov Square. It will become part of a two-level interchange and will ensure free transit traffic from/ to Ramenskoye.

"Construction of a tunnel at Gromov Square is pushing forward, with tunnel sections being now concreted. 15 sections have already been concreted, which is about 43% of the total quantity. The concreting of the tunnel is expected to be completed by the autumn and the traffic will be opened at the end of 2022," said Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure Alexey Gerzhik.

Along with this, utilities relocation is nearing completion, the roadway is being widened and noise screens are being installed. It is planned to complete works on pedestrian overpassed No. 1 and No. 3. by the end of the year. The superstructure of overpass No. 2 is being glazed and the construction of the second tower structure (the frame where the stairs and elevators will be installed) at overpass No. 4 has started.  In December, assembling of the superstructure will start at pedestrian overpass No. 5 to prepare it for installation.

When the reconstruction is completed, there will be no traffic lights, the time to pass Tupolev Street will reduce to 10 minutes and Novoryazanskoye Highway can be reached in 15-20 minutes. The traffic speed in Tupolev Street will be estimated at 70 km per hour. The expected traffic capacity is about 50,000 vehicles per day.
