Employees of the Russian Museum Share Their Experience with Kuzbass Colleagues

A two-day scientific and practice workshop for the museum community of Kuzbass was held in Kemerovo. Employees of the Advisory and Resource Center of Art Museums of the Russian Federation and the Department of Tours and Lectures of the National Russian Museum (Saint Petersburg) shared current touring practices with their colleagues.

While the Kemerovo branch of the Russian Museum is under construction, personnel training is underway in exhibition centres and museums of the region. Lecturers, guides and art critics improve their skills thanks to colleagues from the country's leading cultural institutions. For two days, experts from the National Russian Museum had been sharing current practices. They told representatives of the museum and education community of Kuzbass about the opportunities that the Russian Museum as a methodological centre offers in the field of education and skill improvement training.

Experts told how to attract different groups of visitors to museums, what methods are used to interact with children, the older generation and students. The Kuzbass colleagues noted the high level of the workshop, the experience of Saint Petersburg experts, they emphasized that it inspires them to improve and move on.

The Kemerovo branch of the Russian Museum is a 5-storey building with modern equipment, lighting, sound and multimedia facilities, a large exhibition space, halls for classes for children and watching films, for lectures and workshops.

The museum is a part of the cultural complex built by Stroytransgaz Group commissioned by the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects (the founders of the Foundation are the Mariinsky Theatre, the State Hermitage Museum, Tretyakov Gallery, Bolshoi Theatre) in Kemerovo since 2019.

The following facilities will be built in the city: the Opera and Ballet Theatre, branch of the National Academic Mariinsky Theatre; Museum and Exhibition Center, Branch of Russian Museum; Kuzbass Art Center, including a cinema and concert facility; Siberian Campus of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts and the Creative Industries School; Branch of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography; The Siberian Branch of the Central School of Music at Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Museum Depository with a restoration centre, two residential buildings.

674243.jpg The project was developed by the Coop Himmelb(l)au, Austria, and adapted for Russian conditions and standards by the GORKA Group, Russian design company.

The task to create four new cultural centres (Vladivostok, Kemerovo, South Russia, Kaliningrad) was set by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in his Address to the Federal Assembly in 2018 and detailed in the Executive Order On National Goals and Strategic Objectives of Development of the Russian Federation till 2024.
