Installation of the First Girder of the Overpass Superstructure
The construction of the largest road and transport facility in Perm Territory - a bridge across the Chusovaya River and associated approaches - is continuing. In addition to the construction of a 1.5 km bridge, the project includes more than 7.5 km of roads and three interchanges at the intersection with Tsimlyanskaya and Korsunskaya Streets and near Palniki railway station. While performing works, low air temperatures are taken into account. For example, welding is done in special shelters to avoid any welding defects. All workers are provided with warm overalls, and in severe frosts, the time of continuous work is reduced and the number of warm-up breaks is increased. The construction is planned to be completed by 2023, and all facilities are already taking the shape as designed. All operations are carried out simultaneously at a large-scale construction site, so important milestones are reached every week.
This week we have started to install the superstructure of a two-lane 168m long overpass at the future two-level interchange at the intersection with Tsimlyanskaya Street, which will rest on 7 already built piers. The first four steel main girders of the superstructure have been installed. All steel structures undergo strict acceptance tests, they are checked for conformance with design values, factory defects and damage sustained in transit. All through the process of the superstructure erection, from fabrication of structures on the ground till installation into the design position, careful geodetic monitoring was carried out to ensure proper performance of works.

After all the longitudinal girders are installed, the installation of the cross girders and longitudinal braces will begin. For next year, we have planned to install a reinforced concrete slab of the roadway, pavement and approaches to the overpass. During construction, traffic is directed via a pre-built temporary bypass.
Construction of one pier of the bridge across the Chusovaya River in the riverbed
Unlike the overpass in Tsimlyanskaya Street, the superstructure of the bridge over the Chusovaya River is built by launching, when the superstructure is first assembled on the ground on a special slipway and then pushed onto the piers using jacks. The first 336.8 mtrs long section of the superstructure has already been pushed on from the left bank up to the fifth pier. The second section of the superstructure will be pushed from the right bank. Today, builders are pre-fabricating the superstructure and along with this, the bridge piers are being built.
Installation of Superstructure of Interchange Overpass in Perm Started
Overpass near Palniki railway station
At the same time, the piers of the overpass near Palniki railway station are continuing to be constructed, and access roads to the future bridge renovated. The sections of the East Bypass and the Perm–Berezniki motorway will be widened from two to four lanes and a median barrier will be built.

About the Project:
The bridge over the Chusovaya river under construction will be a part of Moscow - Kazan - Perm - Khanty-Mansiysk - Surgut - Tomsk transport corridor. When commissioned, the bridge will help to eliminate traffic jams at the Chusovaya River crossing and ease the traffic. The project provides for the reconstruction of interchange near Palniki village; new interchanges will appear at the intersection of Solikamsk highway with Korsunskaya Street, as well as between the East Bypass and Tsimlyanskaya Street. The new bridge will be a copy of the existing one. It will be located at a distance of 18 meters from the existing bridge. The length of the four-lane bridge under construction will be 1.5 km (9.2 km including the approaches).
