Alexander Lukashenko visited the construction site of the Culture and Education Complex in the Primorye Territory

Today, on April 13, the construction site of the Culture and Education Complex on Russky Island in Vladivostok was visited by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko and Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako.

There are more than 1,000 people working at the construction site, including 44 people from Belorussian contractors of Belstroytsentr Engineering Republican Unitary Enterprise. It is expected to bring in more workers soon.

“This has the potential to become an educational and human resource development base for the Culture and Exhibition Centre, which is currently under construction in Aksakovskaya [street]. So that staff do not come from elsewhere, but are trained here. There will be an Opera and Ballet Theatre, displays of exhibits from the Russian Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art, the Hermitage, and the Tretyakov Gallery. Sort of a cultural oasis in the Far East,” explained Russia’s Primorye Governor Oleg Kozhemyako to the Belarus’ President.

Alexander Lukashenko followed this up by instructing Ruslan Parkhamovich, Belarus’ Minister of Architecture and Construction, to make sure that the promised assistance with the construction is provided in the best way.

“If you talk the talk, you got to walk the walk. The main thing is live up to the expectations,” the Belarusian President stressed.

The education complex is being built on Russky Island, the footprint totals more than 90,000 square metres. It will combine an education centre for 550 students with a canteen and a swimming pool, a branch of Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory Central Music School, and the Choreographic Academy, a branch of Moscow State Academy of Choreography. Educational buildings and boarding facilities will be connected via heated skywalks. Also at this site, a dormitory for 150 students is being built, as well as two boarding facilities for students of educational institutions, and three apartment buildings for educators and artistes.

All planned activities are progressing on schedule. The Government of the Primorye Territory constantly keeps an eye on, and monitors, the situation at the construction sites.

- At the completion phase now are the academy of choreography, music school and two boarding schools suitable for round-the-clock accommodation,– said Vitaly Blotsky, Minister of Construction of the Primorye Territory.

Igor Volkunovich, CEO at STG-Vostok, reported on construction progress of each individual venue of the complex.

“Oleg Kozhemyako and I have specifically stated that even after the venues are complete, we will use the Stroytransgaz base to set up a strong construction company to build bridges, roads and residential houses in the city. We will keep the workforce employed and create a solid, strong team,” said Igor Volkunovich.

On April 13, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is on an official visit to the Primorye Territory. The head of the friendly state has already met and talked with Governor Kozhemyako. The main topic of the talks was the cooperation between the Republic of Belarus and the Primorye Territory, the implementation of current projects and new lines of cooperation.

The Culture, Education and Museum Complex, which is being built in Vladivostok as a result of a mandate from Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, will be sited at as many as two locations of special historical and strategic value to the region. Russkiy Island will be a focal location, where the majority of educational and residential facilities will be based for the students attending the local branches of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography and the Central Music School of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory. Nearby the future complex now is the existing campus of the Far Eastern Federal University, which is considered to be one of the most modern campuses in Russia.

Aksakovskaya Street, where the city’s main seaside viewpoint opens stunning views over the famous Golden Bridge and the Golden Horn Bay, will be home to the new museum centre, concert hall of the Mariinsky Theatre Primorsky Stage and a branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts.

Construction of the cluster will not only unfold the region’s cultural and educational potential and secure the status of tourist and cultural centre for Vladivostok, but it will also help expand cultural ties with Asia-Pacific countries and improve the insight of the Far East residents and tourists into the best pieces of the Russian culture.

It is worthwhile reminding that the goal of creation of four new cultural centres outside Central Russia was defined by the Russian President Vladimir Putin in his 2018 Federal Assembly Address. It was later elaborated in the Decree “On National Objectives and Strategic Goals of the Development of the Russian Federation till 2024”. The construction was commissioned by the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for Social and Cultural Projects. Stroytransgaz is the general contractor for the construction of Culture and Education Complexes in four Russian regions. In addition to Primorye Territory, such clusters are being built in Kemerovo and Kaliningrad Regions, and in the South of Russia. The design is by GORKA Group.
