Import Substitution and Optimization – the Process of Oils Unification for the Equipment of Stroytransgaz Group

The second stage of lubricants unification for the equipment of Stroytransgaz Group has started. The event is aimed at organizing a clear and uninterrupted operation of the involved equipment. The work is carried out by STG-Service LLC, subsidiary of Stroytransgaz Group.

As a result of the first stage of unification, lubricants were replaced by such large domestic manufacturers as Gazpromneft and Lukoil. As part of the second stage, the field laboratory tested the replaced materials on special equipment involved in the construction of Phase 1 of the M-12 Highway and in the vehicle fleet of the central office. The mandatory list of tests performed at the first stage was supplemented with the analysis of the chosen diesel fuel.

The season for such research was not chosen by chance. In summer, especially in the current period, the air temperature exceeds the average statistical norm and equipment is subjected to increased loads, which in turn increases the risk of overheating.

The first stage of research showed that domestic lubricants are in no way inferior to foreign ones in terms of quality and technical characteristics. Previously, synthetic oils were not produced in Russia, but today the market offers a vast range of Russian premium oils, with domestically produced semi-synthetic oils at leading positions in their group.

As part of the second stage, studies of “import-substituted” lubricants were carried out on 30 units of special machinery. At M-12, these are asphalt pavers, road-building rollers, bulldozers, excavators, and at the central office – fleet vehicles.  Express testing confirmed that the materials used previously behaved predictably in summer, all tested equipment is in good working order.

The counterparty’s field laboratory performed the analysis of several samples, taking into account various periods of equipment hours in operation to monitor the condition of lubricants used during the work. It is important to obtain data in dynamics, thanks to this we can draw a conclusion about behavior of a particular product at the given (regulated) replacement interval, taking into account a great variety of factors that affect it.

The research included a new study – analysis of diesel fuel.  Sampling was made from the fuel tanks of operating equipment, without interrupting the process. This research will determine compliance of the fuel used with the declared EURO class. The quality of the used fuel used is directly related to the quality of the lubricant used in the equipment.

This project on unification will provide such advantages as uninterrupted operation of the equipment and cost savings on its maintenance and repair. Testing of lubricants and diesel fuel operation in special machinery will be launched at all facilities of Stroytransgaz Group. This year in autumn, it is planned to start work at the construction site of the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex.

The event is held as part of the Stroytransgaz production system implementation aimed at increasing performance and quality, reducing construction time and optimizing production. The PS system is globally aimed at a multiple increase in performance, fulfillment of the company’s strategic goals, and optimization of business processes.
