Stroytransgaz Group Becomes Partner of the Russian National Eco-Marathon “Rivers Run”

On September 3, Sochi hosted a large-scale charity eco-marathon “Rivers Run”, which brought together more than 1,000 participants from 110 cities of Russia. The event was held for the third time, at the initiative of the Federal Agency for Water Resources. In 2020, the race took place in Dubna, near Moscow, and in 2021 – in Tula. Stroytransgaz Group has become an official partner of the eco-marathon for the first time.

As part of the corporate social responsibility values, in the course of its professional activities STG pays special attention to environment protection and biodiversity preservation in the areas of its presence. Therefore, Stroytransgaz Group acted as an official partner of the charitable eco-marathon "Rivers Run".

In Sochi, the race started from the Marine Station, then the participants ran along the Grand Marina shopping centre, the Sochi River, along the picturesque Ordzhonikidze Street, and by the Olympic University. Sports fans competed at the distances of 1 km, 5 km, 10 km and 21.1 km. The oldest runner was 79 years old. The participants paid a nominal fee.

The “Rivers Run” project is the first charity eco-marathon organized along the main rivers of the country in order to draw attention to environmental problems, and the need to conserve water resources and use them rationally. Following the Sochi race, all proceeds from the sale of slots (tickets) amounted to RUB 264,800 and were transferred to the Delfa Scientific and Ecological Dolphin Rescue Centre. It was created for the purpose of treatment, rehabilitation and release of marine mammals into their natural habitat or keeping them in semi-free conditions if it is proved that the animal would not survive by itself. The Centre is also engaged in improving the environmental situation of the Black Sea. 

In 2023, the “Rivers Run” charity eco-marathon will be held in Moscow.
