Concreting of the Tunnel on the Tupolev Street in Zhukovsky is completed

Reconstruction of Tupoleva st. in Zhukovsky is a large-scale project that will improve the transport situation for more than 400,000 residents of Moscow and its outskirts. A 713 m tunnel has already been built as part of the project. To date, tunnel concreting is 100% completed.

“As of today, we have fully completed wall and ceiling concreting in the tunnel on Gromov Square, where 43,000 cubic meters of concrete have been laid. The builders are busy with exterior and interior finishing, and have already commenced the internal utilities installation,” Alexey Gerzhik, Minister of Transport of the Moscow Region, said.

The outside tunnel walls are lined with granite and ceramic granite, while interior works include painting of concrete surfaces and panel fasteners installation. Reconstruction of the existing and laying of new utilities (sewerage, water supply, heating networks, communications and power networks) is nearing completion, and the readiness is 90%.

Work has begun on the installation of a levelling blanket along the tunnel roadway, which will be followed by arrangement of lower and upper pavement layers.

The ongoing reconstruction includes carriageway widening, arrangement of relief roads and pedestrian overbridges. Reconstruction is being carried out in confined urban spaces characterized by high intensity of traffic flow along Tupolev Street.

To improve the pedestrian traffic safety, 5 pedestrian overbridges will be built. No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 are 95% ready, their finishing work is nearing completion. At overbridge No. 4, one of the supports was erected, the second one is under erection; the span assembly is underway, and at crossing No. 5, the span steel structures are undergoing painting.

About 300 workers and 60 units of machinery are engaged in the work daily.

During a meeting with the regional Government and district heads, Moscow Oblast Governor Andrey Vorobyov noted that reconstruction of Tupolev Street in Zhukovsky is one of the most important road projects of the region. “We have a number of projects nearing completion this year. One of them is Tupolev Street (in Zhukovsky – ed.), which represents a bypass of Lobnya, the reconstruction of Lobnenskoye highway,” the Governor said. He stressed that these facilities were expected to be completed on time.

The section under reconstruction (2.7 km) lies between the road interchange at the intersection of Tupolev Street and the Tupolevskoye highway, and the bridge across the Khripan River. The project execution will increase the road capacity and improve transport accessibility for about 400 thousand residents of the cities of Zhukovsky and Ramenskoe. The traffic will be non-stop, and the travel time on Tupolev Street will be reduced to 10 minutes. It will be possible to get to the Novoryazanskoye highway in 15–20 minutes.
