Stroytransgaz Group started reconstruction of Kashirskoye highway in the Leninsky urban district of the Moscow region. Design of right-turn Exit 12 from Volodarskoye Highway to A-105 highway “Approach Road from Moscow to Domodedovo Airport” has been completed and it construction has started.

The new contract for the design and reconstruction of Kashirskoye highway was signed by Stroytransgaz Group this year, in the summer. The section runs from the interchange from A-105 to the turn onto Belokamennoye highway towards Vidnoye. Design for the entire facility is scheduled to be finalized in Q1 2023, but the design for Exit 12 has already been completed.

In total, 21 exits will be built on the reconstruction site, but it was decided that Exit 12 shall be constructed the first. It will run to settlements with a total population over 30 thousand people. This exit will increase the capacity at the intersection of Volodarskoye and Kashirskoye Highways and relieve the traffic in this area, which features significant traffic load during peak hours. The start of the traffic here is planned for May 2023.

Exit 12 will be about 600 meters long and have 2 lanes, each 4 m wide. Currently, preparatory work is underway before the start of the main reconstruction phase. The existing fence of the land plot of CJSC “Sovkhoz named after Lenin” is being relocated under withdrawal of a part of the land plot for the purposes of the exit construction. Clearing of the construction area has been started, which includes cutting of trees and shrubs, the actual position of existing utilities is being checked and their relocation from the construction zone is being coordinated with the owners. Works are also carried out to create a geodetic control network (GCN), required for the project staking-out.

During reconstruction of Kashirskoye Highway section, in addition to construction of exits, Stroytransgaz Group will complete design and construction of 4 overpasses, 3 elevated walkways and 3 pedestrian underpasses, and equip various traffic management elements. The total length of the facility will be about 16.5 km, including expansion of 3.4 km to 6-8 lanes and 0.4 km of Volodarskoye Highway.

Kashirskoe Highway is now unable to cope with the increased traffic, especially at the intersection with Volodarskoe Highway. Traffic jams are common in this section in the morning and evening hours, when drivers lose up to 2 hours. According to the Ministry of Transport of the Moscow Region, reconstruction of the main section of Kashirskoe Highway and construction of an interchange at the intersection with Volodarskoe Highway will double the capacity of the road.

The project will be implemented under the state program of the Moscow Region “Development and Operation of the Traffic Complex for 2017–2024” with funding from the regional road fund. The project is under the personal control of Andrei Vorobyov, Governor of the Moscow region. The work is scheduled to be completed in 2026.
