From 30th May to 1st June 2023 the IX Road Initiative Forum "Innovative Technologies and Intelligent Transport Systems in Road Construction” was held in Sochi by Avtodor. The Forum agenda allowed to discuss the key issues of road construction, exchange experiences, document records, and set goals for the future. The speakers focused on the construction of new roads, roadside service development, renewal of the construction equipment, unique technological developments at the facilities, and the renaissance of the road builder profession status. This year will be a record year for the Avtodor State Company in terms of the number of roads opened.

The Stroytransgaz delegation attended the business program of the Forum:  Sergey Zaborov, Director for Strategy and Business Development, Dmitry Deringer, Deputy General Director for Infrastructure Construction, Grigory Kovalenko, General Director of STG-Avtomagistral LLC; Vladimir Klykov, Director for Production Preparation & Infrastructure Warranty Maintenance.

Session speakers at the forum

Vyacheslav Petushenko, Chairman of the Management Board of Avtodor State Company, opened the Forum of Road Initiatives by reading out a welcome address from Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Russian Government, to the participants of the event. The address states that the Russian government pays serious attention to the industry. By order of the President, a five-year plan was developed and adopted, which defines how many and when the road facilities will be completed. This large-scale program will provide all Russian regions with quality highways. Significant funds are allocated for its implementation. Considerable efforts are taken to reduce administrative barriers and simplify permissive procedures.

We need to continue active work on improving the transport accessibility of the regions, the accelerated development of the road network, especially the backbone roads stitching our vast country, as well as the West-East and North-South corridors, which will open up new opportunities to expand mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign counterparts," - says Mikhail Mishustin in his welcoming address.

Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that in 2023 we will see the results of previous years, completing the M-12 Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod - Kazan highway with an extension to Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and further east. According to Khusnullin, the North-South transport corridor is also actively developing.

"We also began to develop the road network of the new subjects of the Russian Federation. In the next few years, we want to improve the local roads to the average national level", - noted the Deputy Prime Minister. He thanked Avtodor for organizing the Forum, and wished all those gathered fruitful work.

To recap, traffic along the 48 km (Petushki bypass) section of the 1st start-up facility of Highway construction Phase 1 was officially launched in December 2022 by the President Putin of Russia. Stroytransgaz Group plans to commission the remaining 32 km of Phase 1 of M-12 Highway ahead of schedule. The traffic from Moscow to Arzamas along the federal road is supposed to be launched in September.

In addition to the M-12 Moscow - Nizhny Novgorod - Kazan highway, the portfolio of Stroytransgaz road construction projects includes design and reconstruction of a section of Kashirskoye Highway in Moscow Oblast, Lobnya - Sheremetyevo Airport highway, reconstruction of Oktyabrsky Avenue in Lyubertsy and Tupolev Street in Zhukovsky of Moscow Oblast, and other projects.

The forum lasted two days. Several thematic sessions, plenary discussions, and roundtables took place as part of the business program of the forum. The solutions reached by government and business will underlie further changes in the scientific and technical policy of the industry, digitalization, development of high-speed road infrastructure and new programs to improve road safety.
