Video Overview of Kemerovo Cultural and Educational Complex Construction (late March 2022)

In March, works are being actively carried out to install hinged facades at most of the facilities of the Siberian Cultural Cluster.

Every day makes the Higher School of Music and Theatre Arts (Branch of the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts) even better – the construction is 71% complete. Stained-glass structures are being assembled, and facade structures are being installed. On sunny days, when the sky is reflected in the stained-glass windows, the educational building is especially beautiful. Installation of metal structures, interior finishing works, and laying of internal utility networks continue here. A supplier for catering equipment, a contractor for supply and installation of stage equipment and workshops (theatre equipment) and a supplier of general-purpose production equipment have been identified.

Facade insulation has already been completed, works are underway to install the facade cassettes at the construction site for an apartment building for teachers of branches of the Moscow State Choreography Academy, the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts and a secondary specialized music school in Kemerovo. Fine finishing of premises, installation of internal utility networks and systems, installation and assembly of passenger and freight elevators continue. The equipment for apartments (furniture, bathroom ceramics, etc.) has been approved with the Customer. An exhibition apartment has been furnished. The building is 80% completed.

Facade insulation has also been completed, and hinged facades are being installed at the Museum Depository (79% completeness). Installation of internal utilities, and finishing works are in progress in the premises. All contracts for the facility have been awarded.

The 7-storey dormitory for students of the Higher School of Musical and Theatre Arts in Kemerovo (for 240 people) is 92% complete, the facade revetment is fully completed here. The walls and ceilings in the rooms and corridors have already been painted, and graphic drawings have been applied. Painters have now given the reins to artists. They paint the walls of corridors, kitchens and rooms. To do this, they use eco-friendly water-based matt acrylic pastel colour paints. Such paint practically does not smell, and the surfaces painted with it can be washed repeatedly with water or non-aggressive detergents. Handrails have been installed on the stairwells, and painting works continue. The total area of painting of walls and ceilings amounted to 17,000 sq.m. The bathroom ceramics have been installed in full. The next stage of works is installation of general purpose equipment (beds, cabinets, tables, bedside tables, chairs, etc.). Students will live in blocks of two rooms with a shared kitchen, changing room, bathrooms. Rooms for self-study and rest are provided on each floor.

Preparatory works are underway to start construction of an apartment building for artists and specialists: a land plot for development is being registered and transferred to the National Cultural Heritage Foundation for free use. The facility construction commencement is planned for April 2022.

As part of the works arrangement at all sites, measures are being developed and implemented to increase labour productivity. By now, most processes are broken down by type of work (significant, insignificant, losses). The causes of discovered issues occurred are identified, and measures for their elimination are being developed and implemented. Among the earliest advances of the system's implementation were the safety briefings launched in December. To arrange planning for the entire construction work and prompt decision-making on detected deviations, a PCA (production control and analysis) board has been designed and put into operation”. During each shift, this board is used to summarize the results of the work performed, in terms of plan/actual/deviation/development of compensating measures for the deviations highlighted. As a result, the transparency of work progress is achieved and, most importantly, the reasons for delays are being identified promptly. It becomes possible to identify bottlenecks and promptly take the appropriate management decisions. The plans are to increase labour productivity to 18–19 cub. m per shift by June 2022 (that is, by almost one third).
