Today, State and Regional Awards were solemnly handed out in the Pskov Region. Yuri Anatolyevich Strelkov, Project Director for the reconstruction of the Mashinostroitel Stadium in Pskov, was awarded a Certificate of Honor for high performance in the construction of the facility.
“Traditionally, on the eve of the Russia Day, state, departmental and regional awards are handed out to those who have achieved success in their fields. Our country is a guardian of centuries-old traditions, its people have always made it strong. All our compatriots are united by a sincere and deep love for their Motherland,” the Governor of the Pskov Region, Mikhail Yuryevich Vedernikov, addressed the audience.
The Mashinostroitel Stadium was built in 1953 for the now defunct football club of the same name. As part of the project, Stroytransgaz has reconstructed the big football field with artificial turf, running tracks and sports sectors, rebuilt the big and small stands. In total, the stadium stands have 4,222 seats protected by rain canopies. An administrative building with ticket offices and an entrance group was built on the territory of the sports complex.
The big stand houses a 114 m athletics arena, beneath the stands there are locker rooms, coach rooms, a conference hall, and a medical office. On the second floor, there are two gyms – aerobic and weight-lifting rooms. On the third floor, there are gyms for wrestling and aerobics. The small stand houses two more sports halls – one is for fencing, with 5 special pistes, the other is for cycling.
At the opening ceremony of the Mashinostroitel Stadium, the Governor of the Pskov Region noted: “The project was really very complex, and while it was being reconstructed, changes were constantly made to the design and estimate documentation. But, despite this, we jointly... completed the first phase of this project... It will be one of the largest modern sports centres in the entire Northwest.”
