Chairman of the Executive Board of Avtodor State Company (Russian Highways) V. Petushenko, Stroytransgaz Joint-Stock Company Director General D. Lebedev, and Deputy Director General D. Deringer

Stroytransgaz Group is making progress on the construction of the 2nd Start-up Package for Phase 1 of M-12 Highway (Moscow — Nizhny Novgorod — Kazan) on a section 32 kilometres long. Work progress on the highway section being built has been discussed at the site during a meeting attended by Chairman of the Executive Board of Avtodor State Company (Russian Highways) Vyacheslav Petushenko, Stroytransgaz Director General Dmitry Lebedev, Deputy Director General for Infrastructure Construction Dmitry Deringer, OOO STG-Avtomagistral Director General Grigory Kovalenko, STG specialists and contractors.

The traffic from Moscow to Arzamas along the federal road is expected to be launched in September 2023, including the 32 kilometres of the 2nd Start-up Package for Phase 1 of M-12 Highway, from the intersection with A-108 Moscow Big Ring Federal Highway to M-7 Volga Highway interchange, bypassing Pokrov. In this regard, Vyacheslav Petushenko instructed the builders to switch to daily work progress monitoring.

Currently, the builders are preparing to lay asphalt for the 2nd Start-up Package for Phase 1. They will lay 261 thousand tonnes of asphalt concrete (169 thousand tonnes or 40 % of the project scope have already been laid). When traffic is launched on the 32 km section of M-12 Highway, it will bypass settlements, including Pokrov.

As for the highway section as a whole, active work is being done on 16 artificial structures, including 4 flyovers across other motor roads and 3 across railroads, as well as 3 overpasses across M-12 Highway itself. The builders also construct bridges over water bodies (the Kirzhach, Bolshaya Dubna, Voliga rivers, a lake and a swamp), while the work on construction of pedestrian crossings in the road body is nearing completion.

The installation of solid cast reinforced concrete structures of two pedestrian crossings, three cattle roads, four bridges and six overpasses has now been completed on the 80 km section of the highway. Preliminary works on application of two-component coating for the walking surface, and finishing of the walls and ceiling of the pedestrian crossing with vandal-proof coating are underway.

To recap, traffic along the 48 km section of the 1st Start-up Package of M-12 Highway Phase 1 (Petushki bypass) was officially launched in December 2022 by the President of the Russian Federation.
