In 2007 Stroytransgaz PJSC started the reconstruction of the energy block No. 4 of the Kalinin nuclear power plant. The Kalinin nuclear power plant is located in Udomlya district of Tver region and provides all the central territories of Russia with power energy. The Kalinin NPP provides over 60% of energy, generated in Tver region.
The reconstruction of the energy block No. 4 was carried out subject to the federal target program “Development of the Nuclear Energy Industry of Russia for 2007–2010 and the Future to 2015”. The Federal Agency for Atomic Energy is customer for the project. Its general contractor is the federal governmental enterprise NIAEP.
Stroytransgaz scope of works included the construction of the B-320 energy block (VVER-100 modification) with electric power of 1000 MW. Heating power of the facility amounted to 3000 MW. During the construction of energy block No. 4 the following operations were performed:
A unique tower crane KROLL-К10000 was purchased for project implementation. It has two crane arms, is 146 m high and has lifting capacity up to 240 tons that considerably reduced the time of the energy block construction. Stroytransgaz mobilized over 1,000 specialists of 19 different areas of expertise.
The construction works implemented by Stroytransgaz were of the first category of difficulty.
The start-up complex of energy block No.4 of the Kalinin nuclear power plant was completed in 2011.
