Caspian Pipeline Consortium-К
2008-2009 гг.
1,510 km
130.3 km
1,020 mm
In 2008 Stroytransgaz PJSC and Caspian Pipeline Consortium-K signed an agreement to replace the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) pipeline section 0–116 km in Atyrau region.
As provided for in the contract Stroytransgaz built a new section 130.3 km long and with a diameter of 1,020 mm. The route of the section is further from the coastline of the Caspian Sea than the route of the old section (0-116 km).
Stroytransgaz scope of work included delivery of materials and equipment (in addition to the already purchased units for CPCP with long delivery time), as well as dismantling and removal of the decommissioned section, excavation works, civil engineering, environmental protection operations and electrical works, and also connection piping operations and control and instrumentation.
Construction of the linear section performed by Stroytransgaz included crossings over the Emba River, the railroad, more than 40 different communication lines and 30 motorways. Fixed-site crossings and passages over the pipeline and other obstacles were constructed; line service roads, optical fiber communication cable and high-voltage power lines were laid.
Construction of the new pipeline and transferring the route of the section on the whole increased oil transportation environmental safety in this region.
Kazakhstan companies and specialists took active part in implementation of the project. Kazakhstan institute of oil and gas developed for CPC engineering and design documentation considering high up-to-date requirements to the technical parameters of the system. Kazhimmontazh Holding АО, SK Sparta ТОО, ABS ТОО, and Defectoscopiya ТОО were involved as subcontractors.
The Caspian Pipeline Consortium’s pipeline system runs 1,510 km and connects the Tengiz oil field in Kazakhstan with a marine terminal near Novorossisk in the Russian Federation.
The CPC registered capital is equally divided among states-founders and private oil companies. The shares of the founding states are distributed as following: Russia—31 %, Kazakhstan—19 %. Private oil companies, participating in the Consortium, include Chevron Caspian Pipeline Consortium Company (15%), LUKARCO B.V. (12.5%), Rosneft-Shell Caspian Ventures Limited (7,5%), Mobil Caspian Pipeline company (7,5%), Agip International (N.A.) N.V. (2%), BG Overseas Holdings Limited (2%), Kazakhstan Pipeline Ventures LLC (1,75%) and Oryx Caspian Pipeline LLC (1,75%).
