In October 1997 Yamburggazdobycha LLC and Stroytransgaz PJSC signed a general contract for development of one of the largest gas-oil-condensate fields in the world — Zapolyarnoye oil and gas condensate field.
The field is located in the southern part of Tazovsky district of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Region, 220 km from Novy Urengoy. The reserves of Zapolyarnoye field are unique – more than 3 trnillion m3 of gas. Only the upper layer of this field with area of 50 to 32 km and 1-1.3 km deep, and the gas bearing height of 230 m, has more than 2.6 trillion. m3 of gas. At the lower layers of Zapolyarnoye field (depth of occurrence is 3-3.5 km) there are reserves amounting to 1 trillion m3 of gas minimum.
The scope of work included:
In the course of the field development specialists of more than 2,000 qualifications were engaged. One CGTP consists of 16 buildings, their site is approximately 12 Ga. 18,000 piles were driven. The equipment was added and assembled by the company specialists quite far away from the industrial bases, in the permafrost zone and within quite a short time.
Phased commissioning of the facilities was completed in the end of September, 2004, which enabled Zapolyarnoye oil and gas condensate field to get the designed gas capacity of 100 bln m3 annually. A number of extra construction and assembly operations in construction of the Zapolyarnaya gas turbine electric power station and in restoration of the main facilities of CGTP-1C were completed in 2011.
