Stroytransgaz took part in the River Infrastructure: Upgrade and Growth Points Forum and Exhibition

Representatives of Stroytransgaz JSC, Sergey Garanov, Director for Water Facilities Construction, and Ruslan Shakirov, Project Manager, took part in the River Infrastructure: Upgrade and Growth Points All-Russian River Forum and Exhibition held in Moscow. The event was supported by the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the Federal Maritime and River Transport Agency.

The Analytical Centre under the Government of the Russian Federation hosted the first River Infrastructure: Upgrade and Growth Points All-Russian River Forum and Exhibition which discussed the practical implementation of instructions given by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the river navigation development meeting.

The event was attended by about 200 delegates from industry associations, federal and regional executive authorities, investors, businesses, suppliers and contractors of inland water transport infrastructure development projects. About 50 persons spoke.

“Today, we are a part of the historical process, i.e. the new birth of river transport in Russia. Certainly, we should have begun 20 years ago, however, we have been vigorously working towards this for several years now. The President's instructions determined the key tasks of this work. And we have no doubt that they will be completed,” Alexander Poshivay, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation said in his welcoming speech to the participants at the Focus Areas of Inland Water Transport Development Plenary Session.

Today, the country is implementing dredging and navigation development projects of the rivers in Siberia, the Far East and the Unified Deep Water System of European Russia. To remove the existing bottlenecks, one of the key factors in the inland water transport development is the construction of the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex.

At the same time, the inland waterways are being developed as part of the International North-South Transport Corridor.

- STG is implementing a number of hydraulic engineering projects that help resolving the most important issues for this country, i.e. developing contemporary and efficient transport infrastructure, providing competitive edge to cargo carriage and developing tourism. The facilities include the construction of Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex, a coastal and marine infrastructure complex in Gelendzhik, etc. Therefore, the Innovative Solutions for Construction, Upgrade and Operation of Hydraulic and Coastal Infrastructure Technical Session was of great interest. In the course of work, the participants discussed dedicated construction mixes for concrete repair and protection and the issue of import phase-out of materials and technologies for construction and repair of berthing and port structures which has become acute due to the withdrawal of foreign manufacturers, - Sergey Garanov, Director for Water Facilities Construction of JSC STG, said.

The second day session, Infrastructure of Water Tourism and Passenger Carriage, was held on board Zhemchuzhina panoramic premium ice-class motor ship, where

speakers presented their river tourism infrastructure development projects in Tatarstan, St. Petersburg, Moscow and Vologda regions.
