In 2002 Stroytransgaz PJSC and CJSC MunaiTas North-West Pipeline Company concluded a contract for turnkey construction of the Kenkiyak-Atyrau oil pipeline. The pipeline connects the oil pumping station Kenkiyak with the oil pumping station Atyrau and further with export terminals of the Caspian pipeline consortium and Atyrau-Samara oil pipeline. Thus connection of Kazakhstan oil fields to the world markets is provided.

Following the project Stroytransgaz provided engineering and construction of the oil pipeline linear section 448.5 km long and with a diameter of 610 mm, construction and reconstruction of three pumping stations and the terminal in Atyrau, materials and equipment delivery. Initial design capacity of the pipeline amounted to 6 million tons annually with further increase up to 12 million tons annually.

The pipeline engineering was performed by Stroytransgaz subsidiary company –GasNIIproekt CJSC.

470 special-purpose equipment units and 1,000 people were engaged in the construction of the linear section of the Kenkiyak-Atyrau oil pipeline.

Grade 17Г1С class X65 pipes with manufacturer’s three-layered polyethylene insulation were used to build the pipeline. A great number of crossings (more than 150) were the specific feature of the route. The average rate of the pipeline construction was 7-8 km a day.

The project was commissioned in 2004.
