General Director of JSC Stroytrangaz Has Inspected Construction Sites of the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex

On Friday, August 5, Vladimir Aleksandrovich Lavlentsev, General Director of JSC Stroytransgaz, visited construction sites of the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex.

Together with Aleksandr Sergeevich Brovkin, Director for Construction of the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex, Vladimir Aleksandrovich Lavlentsev inspected the sites and heard a report on the work progress. Tubular sheet piles are being installed on Arpachinsky Island as a pit groundwater cutoff, 970 pieces have already been driven, which amounts to more than 5,000 tons. A concrete plant construction is underway, the readiness is 57%. It is planned to locate two concrete plants on the island for laying 430 thousand cubic meters of concrete provided by the project.

On the right bank of the Don River – territory of the fish bypass and spawning channel, works on the soil and vegetation layer removal are nearing completion, over 1.5 million cubic meters of soil have been already excavated and removed. The project provides for dredging in the area of the upper and lower lock-approach canals of the future hydroelectric complex; as of today, 182 thousand cubic meters of soil have already been excavated at dredging site No. 3. The readiness of temporary buildings and structures of the camp designed for 1,500 places is 70%.

At the working meeting, the leaders discussed optimization of all construction processes, as well as the possibility of contracting the supply of equipment for the future hydroelectric complex by the end of this year. The General Director of JSC STG noted the high pace of work and drew attention to compliance with the construction deadlines; the hydroelectric complex should start operating from the beginning of navigation season-2025.

Construction of the hydroelectric complex in line with the Don at km 3,089 of the navigation pass of the Unified Deep Water System began in 2018. The goal is to increase transport accessibility and improve the working conditions of the water management complex of the Don Region, as well as to ensure the reliability and safety of navigation of the large-capacity fleet on the Lower Don.
