Launching of Own Filling Complex Is an Efficient Solution of the Fuel Supply Issue

Over 200 units of special machinery running on diesel fuel are involved in the construction of the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex (BHC), including articulated all-terrain dump trucks, tractors and graders, cranes and excavators. The machinery, the amount of which is constantly increasing, is refuelled from mobile automobile tankers, which results in operating time losses due to standing in queue. In addition, due to the lack of fuel storage facilities at the construction site, truck drivers face fuel shortages and, consequently, suffer from downtimes which can reach up to 20% of the work shift. STG specialists have analyzed the situation, made calculations and taken a decision that will allow for optimizing the workflow – to organize own stationary filling complex (fuel filling station) at the construction site.

Refuelling Vehicles Using Mobile Fuelling Tankers

Launching of own filling station solves several problems at once. Firstly, it allows to reduce the purchase cost of fuel – the resulting economic benefit will be visible by the year end. An electronic card linked to each car eliminates the loss of time at refuelling due to the electronic recording of fuel volume and payments. In case of interruptions, the supplier now has a guaranteed reserve of fuel capable to ensure 5-7 days of work at the construction site. Another advantage of own filling station is the possibility of its moving to other company facilities upon completion of construction works at the hydroelectric complex.

Now the filling station is fully ready for operation, an agreement for fuel supply has been concluded with Rosneft Oil Company, commissioning activities have been performed. The first cars have already begun to refuel at the stationary complex. All cars involved in the facility will be transferred to servicing by own filling station within a month.

Project background:

The Bagayevsky Hydroelectric Complex is the most important infrastructure project not only for the Rostov Region, but also for the whole country. The hydroelectric complex under construction will be composed of: a shipping lock with a central control room, upper and lower approach channels with mooring-guiding structures, a spillway and earth fill dam, a meandering fish bypass and spawning channel and a fish passage lock, industrial, service, engineering and auxiliary facilities, a settlement for operating personnel. To ensure the navigation safety, channel-regulating dams are arranged, as well as shore protection dams that will prevent the development of bank erosion processes (washout and collapse), protect from the impact of ship waves and reduce the negative impact of waters on the population living in these areas. In order to ensure guaranteed waterway dimensions (depth – 4 m, width – 80 m, bending radius – 500 m) in the section from the Kochetovsky Hydroelectric Complex site at km 3,004.5 of the waterway of the Unified Deep Water System (UDWS) to the Bagaevsky Hydroelectric Complex site at km 3,089 of the UDWS waterway, dredging and river cut-off are envisaged.
